smitty Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Oh, yeah, this Superintendent should be fired and a hefty lawsuit should be layed on the school district. From the article: "Revere Superintendent Dianne Kelly says the district believes in freedom of speech, but cannot support what she calls insensitive language."If you're going to stand up and say something that other people will find offensive - than you need to be prepare to deal with the ramifications of that," Kelly said." The Constitution PROTECTS offensive speech. You notice there's a BUT behind the "district believes in freedom of speech." Doesn't appear that they actually do. But -- was this offensive speech to begin with? It appears that this Superintendent doesn't understand the Constitution. Maybe firing her will wake her and the school district up... 77 Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 And I can remember when academia and liberals were a champion for free speech. Since the dems have been taken over by the socialist and communist they are against it and I cant understand why people still pull for these folks! Quote
tvc184 Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Oh good, more diversity training. As a police officer I have been to diversity training about 15 times. One of the first things they state in most of the classes is that the training will not change your opinions...... but you have to sit and listen to it anyway. After taking such classes mandated by the legislature choir over two decades, I can confirm that it's true. The training changes nothing but it makes some liberal politicians or activists feel good about themselves. What they need is diversity training for the stupid people that are (yet again) demanding diversity training. So now the school district is coming up with new curriculum that includes not only diversity but "acceptance". Yep, so much for free speech. There has to be acceptance of the message or you are in violation of some code. The superintendent says that if someone finds your speech offensive then there should be consequences. Maybe she is correct. I find her speech totally offensive and against the First Amendment of the Constitution (and reasonableness) therefore she should be terminated since (in her words) there should be consequences to offending someone.
