Guest Orangeboy Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 PHOENIX -- Washington pitcher John Patterson and Florida reliever Kevin Gregg argued their salary cases in front of arbitration panels Monday. Patterson, eligible for arbitration for the first time, asked arbitrators Elliott Shriftman, Dan Brent and Stephen Goldberg for a raise from $450,000 to $1.85 million. The Nationals offered $850,000, less than half. Patterson was 1-2 with a 4.43 ERA in eight starts last year before season-ending surgery on his pitching arm. Gregg, acquired in November from the Los Angeles Angels, also was eligible for the first time and asked arbitrators Jack Clarke, Stephen Goldberg and Elizabeth Neumeier for a raise from $365,000 to $700,000. The Marlins argued for a $575,000 salary for Gregg, who went 3-4 with a 4.14 ERA in 29 starts and three relief appearances last year. Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Beimel and Tampa Bay backup catcher Josh Paul were the first two players who went to arbitration this year and lost their cases Saturday. Beimel will get $912,500 and Paul $625,000.
