HJ defeated Corpus Christie Calallen 91-33 in the first round of bracket play.  They advance to play the winner of Abilene and Port Lavaca Calhoun tomorrow at 11 am

Silsbee being able to survive and even thrive with four to eight players still playing football, against 6A schools at that, is more dream than reality.  We won't really be able to tell what this team is really all about until mid to late January.

Silsbee will play the loser of Pflugerville/Brenham at 3:30pm.

HJ defeated a solid Abilene team 84-81 to advance to the finals.  They'll face New Braunfels in the finals. A really nice win over a big, athletic team.

New Braunfels is 7-1 on the season, and a good team, but their mascot is a unicorn, meaning I can't decide if there is shame in losing to them or not if the Hawks don't prevail.

New Braunfels beat Abilene 65-35, so their defense must be stout. As for the nickname, it is unique being the only mascot with that name in the country.
