ST413 Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 An average Yates Team beat Lufkin this weekend in regulation, Lets Go #1 ranked Silsbee (4A). Lufkin is not that goodĀ That average team is still ranked what #7 in he state. Ā Lufkin is pretty good but looks like they get a little wild and miss lots of lay ups or point blank shots. Ā Something we in Silsbee are familiar with. Ā I was impressed tonight on how the Tigers picked their places trying to get to the bucket and made the passes when the lane collapsed. Ā Also watched us lay back off the press in the third and still make a run. The Tigers looked a lot better than the last Ā two games I have seen. Ā Still lots of work to be done. Ā We can't get up for one game and play well then lay back the next. Ā Still a good win for a team that has only had a couple practices as a whole unit. Quote
Kountzer Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 That #1 ranking is like a bull's eye. Ā It is a good thing though, builds character. Ā BADSANTA 1 Quote
BMTSoulja1 Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 This team ... Ā If you let them hang around, they can beat anyone... Ā So much experience here, it shows in the 4th and overtimes. Ā Lufkin probably thought this game was won.... ST413 1 Quote
ST413 Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Lufkin was tired and not having their big man inside on defense was big as well. Ā Many good drives and dishes last night for the Tigers. Ā We do have to stop falling so far behind these better teams in the first half. Ā Find a way to score and get more rebounds in that half. Quote
BADSANTA Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 8-4 overall and maybe have played the hardest schedule in 4A. Big win after struggling the last 2 games. Let's get off to a strong start in district and go win the next tourney.Ā Quote

stevenash Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 If I am understanding you correctly, then, one does not need a good coach or good players to succeed.Ā All they need is a group of fans that view their program and their teams as "basketball gods"?Ā Ā Ā Quote
