Guest WeedBegone
When we look at KFDM weather and see water temperature---is this based on the coastal temperatures at the surf and where? i plan on doing considerably more surf fishing when the temp gets 65 to 70. When it gets warmer the bathing suits become too much distraction.
KFDM COOP
Yes the Water temperatures are taken near the shoreline. Farther offshore the waters are warmer.

tvc184
I used to catch whiting on the old Gulfhaven pier in the Winter time. But how much do those skinny croakers weigh.. about 10 ounces for a big one?
PNG Proud
yep,...not much to them. But, it's something to do while you're waiting for the REAL fishin' to get good.Personally, I'm chomping at the bit to get out to Spindletop. It's shallow, dark water so it should warm up quick. tvc184
you have obviously never eaten it...i have had it once and cant wait for the next timeI've eaten them. A good eating fish but a lot of work for what is about the size of a big bream. Even the croaker are bigger.... and just as good to eat.
