School Board Met Monday Night

The board of the Jasper Independent School District met Monday evening at 7:00 pm to discuss among other things, the appointment of a interim athletic director to replacing Coach Danny Lauve who announced last week that he is going to the small community of Elgin just east of Austin.

The board agreed to ask the Director of Human Resources Chris Coleman to step back into his old job as Athletic Director, at least until they find a replacement. Coleman told KJAS News Wednesday afternoon that, more information on a new head coach may come as soon as Thursday or Friday of this week.

Looks like there have been around 20 new applications and that Coleman won't be ready to present a coach to the school board until around 3/18. This is per kjas.com.

Jasper Head Coaching Job Still Up For Grabs

The Jasper Head Coaching and Athletic Director job is still up for grabs according to the interim Athletic Director Chris Coleman, who’s full time job is the Director of Human Resources at the Jasper I. S. D.. He told KJAS news on Friday morning that around 20 or more applications have been filed with the school at this time and the process will remain open until March 2nd. He and others will then begin the search for a candidate to fill the position left vacant by Coach Danny Lauve who, around the first of February, announced that he was taking a position as Athletic Director and Head Coach in the small community of Elgin, which is just east of Austin.

The Jasper Independent School Board will meet again on March 19th, and Coleman hopes to have a name to present before the board for approval. He also said that because of the different spring break schedules among many of the area schools, it could hinder the interview process if a candidate’s school is closed at that time they wish to observe them in a school setting.
