My playoff projection:

1. Kirbyville

2. Woodville

3. Coldspring

4. Buna

 

 

With EC out and Kirbyville down from last year, this district just got a lot more competit I've from top to bottom. 

 

Kirbyville lost a lot of talent, but will also bring back a lot of speed in the form of Ty Dennis. They should be a little down, but still the class of this district.

 

Woodville returns the most starters of anyone in the district, including 1st team All District RB Ivan Lockhart. They were extremely young last year, so look for those young guys to step up this year and start to show production in numbers and compete for the district title.

 

Coldspring's numbers have been down lately, which has caused a drop in talent level, but they're still a good program who loves their football. They'll compete well and beat out Buna for this last spot.

 

Trinity had a very good season last year, defeating powerhouses Lexington and Corrigan-Camden. They should be pretty good this year, as well. They get this third spot.

 

Buna will return more experience from a young team last year. Their problem is going to be keeping up with the speed in the top half of this district. 

 

Kountze should be way down. With the loss of Grayland Arnold, there aren't many other options. It should be a rebuilding year for the Lions, and if played right, can lead to a strong season next year.

 

Warren will be down from a team that wasn't very good this past year. I hate to say it about my neighbors, but they'll be the bottom feeders of this district.

My comment, you are crazy if you think a two round playoff team drops in classification and only finishes third in this district. Coldspring still has enough players to win this district.

The next couple of years may not bold well for the Lions after a few years of some success.  Seems like the program is heading in the wrong direction again.  Sad situation for the kids.

That is a pretty harsh statement right there. What do you have to back it up?

Mr. Green Jeans is hitting upon the truth. Look I am as positive a person as you can get on Kountze Athletics, but i have to be real at the same time. When a school distric spends appox 1/2 or less on each Athlete as they do another extra curricular activity and then when you look out across the field on Friday Nights and your opponent has 5 and 8 more coaches than you do...well 2+2=4 (athletics have been deemed non-essential) When your track program can't uniform everybody properly and Baseball and Softball cant buy field conditioner or even needed equipment but other programs can provide private tutorials to the tune of thousands of dollars (again athletics is deemed non-essential) when the community demands that the athletic program, in it's entirety, not just Basketball, be supported then and only then will you have a succesful program. Look at the successfull programs and look at the community support and demand...even when the success wains the participation does not because the community supports their high school athletics. This is not the fault of the coaches and certainly not the fault of the kids. If this honest statement makes you mad at me for saying it...then your part of the problem. I love to watch kids play sports and be successful, because it builds successful people.

I just looked at kvilles roster from last year.  They losing some key players but returning more than I thought.  They still gonna have a pretty good team.
