District 10-4A Div 1

Bridge City

Cleveland

Huffman Hargrave

Livingston (brutal drive)

Navasota (even more of a brutal drive)

Little Cypress-Mauriceville

Silsbee

The rest are manageable distances - BISD is well renowned for their decision making skills

If Ozen would have went 4A I don't think Navasota would be in that district. BISD had to send 2 schools to Livingston all the time for 4 years because they used to be in district down here. It's not all that bad just hard on the kids on a yellow dog on a Tuesday. But the funds are now shot because all the travel with Westbrook.

Wait 2 more years for the next realignment, maybe #'s will push them D2 and then drop down to be in WOS district.

Best case scenario, push numbers around move central up to 6a Ozen to 4A D1/2 where they fall. PAM moves back to 6A. Have 3 teams from the area 6A numbers. Insert Deer Park La Porte GCM Sterling and there you go there's your district. But BISD can only dream of that one right.

I'm thinking, since West Brook is scheduled to travel almost 600 miles for district games this year, it really makes no sense to keep Ozen playing up being that your reasoning was to cut back on travel...  Someone either goofed up big time or there really an ulterior motive for messing Ozen over.  The funds budgeted for travel costs have probably been exceeded with West Brook alone, so the excuse of saving is way out of the question.  Ultimately, UIL chitted on West Brook, and BISD chitted on Ozen.  Smh

I totally agree bud...

The best thing would have been to drop Ozen down and let the winning begin which might bring more people to the games. Raise money thru ticket sales and concession. IMO the travel would have been about the same or close to it.

Athletes were let down. The ones coming up the pipe may shift to the other schools, which is only going to hurt Ozen.

Watch the shifting began...oh, it's already been going on...

You would have had to move 679 students to get Central to 6A...not going to happen.

All it takes is ReZoning to make it happen tho. Which the district desperately needs to update and redo anyways to make the numbers a little bit more even and better for Ozen. So don't think it's so hard to make happen.

That rezoning is coming soon, from what I hear.  Beaumont Harmony Science just might get more people in the near future.

Some of you that are talking about Ozen travel are only looking at football if they would have stayed in 4A the rest of the sports would have been in same district as Bridge City, HF, O-Field, etc... so distance traveled (budget) wouldn't be that much more really.  Girls/boys basketball alone travels way more than football. Just saying

I agree that the district needs to rezoning and ENFORCE it!!!  But it won't happen...plus you have the magnet programs...

BISD needs to form one high school I looked at the numbers and it's about 5k total students in BISD that wouldn't be too big for one school IMO...would help them financially and would be a huge boost in athletics can you imagine that? BISD would compete for a state title in just about every sport

pretty sure beaumont would have a hard time in baseball. what happened to all of beaumont's baseball talent?

Baseball is predicated on little league success. If you have a good little league system then you will have a good high school baseball team. You can't out athlete teams in baseball. The Beaumont little league baseball sucks which in turn makes the high school baseball teams suck.
