fishcat Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 Jasper8 Kirbyville 4 . It was a pitching duel till the 5 th inning . Gore from Kirbyville ran out of gas. First time I saw him pitch . He pitched a great game. Mcmillon pitched for Jasper. Wasn't his best outing but he got the job done. Mcmillon also hit another home run. Quote
eagle86 Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 Great game for six innings first time I have seen these two pitchers throw. Lot of people for high school baseball game felt like playoffs. McMillion wasn't as sharp as he could have been but was still dominate. Kirbyville had some chances but could not capitalize on them. Gore had Jasper's number for five and two thirds but Kirbyville made some mistakes in the outfield on three balls that should have been caught that lead to Jasper runs. Both teams should get better and hopefully make a run in district and playoffs. Quote
bulldog16 Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 Great atmosphere. Did not feel like your typical first weekend tournament game at all. Good game by both teams. Quote
Booster Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 Jasper has a lot of fire power throughout the lineup and mixed in with some speed on several of the players. If no injuries possible deep playoff run. Gore had an outstanding game for five. Early in the season not use to going this deep in the game. Hope Jasper doesn't overthrow their pitchers early in the season. Mcmillion threw over 200 pitches in six days and Delay came in to try and close 2 innings against Lumberton after throwing over 90 on Thursday. Quote
geep06 Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Don't think they will be over pitched. Quote

Is this the same kid that I remember having an 80mph fastball as a 12 yr old in Little League? And speaking of Jasper Little League, what ever happened to the Dunlap kid who's fastball was touching 90 as a 14-15 yr old? Quote
Lumberjackfan Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 I know it's early in the year, but shouldn't pitchers who didn't play basketball be ready to go the whole game? I think this is a copout that many people use when pitchers make mistakes in the early part of the season. Quote

Most doctors and experts agree that these kids should rest their arms and not throw for a 3-4 month break every year. If you agree with these experts, when do you think this break is likely to take place? Could it be during the fall? So even if they don't play basketball, there is a good chance that most of these pitchers are coming off a nice break from throwing and will need time to get arms at 100% again. Quote
