Kountzer
That '71 team was a memorable team, '72 was also. As I remember '71 had Joe Price, Dr Larry Irvin shooting jumpers in the corner, David Brown,James Hunter. Was DLee Matthews on that team? I think he was. Some of the Bush brothers...That was a good team. I know, i'm showing my age. BADSANTA

whsalum
I think It was the 71 team that had the player who went on to play football for the Detroit lions. I believe it was Hunter. They were very good.

ST413
By the way that 82-83 team is the reason I have been hooked watching Tiger bball all these years. Watched them several times as a 12 year old. Can still remember names, things I read and things I saw that year as well as the next two or 3, even though I was no longer in Silsbee at the time. They were special. Should have beat Borger in the semi final. To many missed free throws. Remember that game all to well

BADSANTA
I was told the best two Silsbee teams ever were 1971/72 and 1982/83. 82/83 had both MacArthur brothers. What did Silsbee do during the years David Green was leading them as a Allstate guard?
no-look
20 hours ago, AggiesAreWe said: Yes it was. In no particular order, these were some of the better Silsbee teams: '71, '72, '75, '76, '79, '82-'86, '89, '92, '95, '97, '98, '05, '07-'16 I've often thought about the following about the team I support, what if you could put all these teams in a sixteen team tournament. Be interesting to see how the finals would work out.
ST413
All these teams wouldn't fit in a 16 team tourney.. That's a big list!! But it would be hard for me to put a list together. I can't include all the teams because I didn't see all of them but from the ones I have seen I would have to include that 82-83 team as well as 09-10 and this years team. Unfortunately Silsbee was in the district with Beaumont Hebert and only 1 team made the playoffs back then. Silsbee lost a heart breaker against Hebert in 79 in the old Panther gym in Pear Orchard. The game was marred with a post game brawl between players and fans. Had to have a Police escort out of Beaumont. I will go to my grave saying Silsbee was screwed by the refs and the timekeeper. Kountzer
I never got to see David Green play. I was enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard at the time, riding around in the Pacific in a cg cutter. By the time I heard his name he was a coach at central. ST413
I believe four of the starters were Lloyd and Darrel, Ferrel and Wade Richardson. Not sure who the other one was.
Kountzer
I don't think Randy started. He came in off the bench. I think his cousin was a 6'6" post on the team I am referring to. They were ranked # 1 all season then went down fast in the playoffs, around 1979, 1980.

ST413
Ok it was Harper i had trouble remembering as the starter, off hand don't remember Jackson. I do remember another Tiger maybe from that team if not it was the next few years. I remember him because he could jump out the gym, Kevin Dodd, I believe that's right anyway. There was a meeting at the scorers table with the refs and coaches, someone pulled the scorers box off the scorers table and turned over the scorers table and then all he)) broke lose. Needless to say the points where not added and Silsbee was cheated out of a win to go to the playoffs that year. Pepper Brooks

STiger85
I'm kinda partial to the 84-85 team. Only lost two games that year, one to #1 Lincoln and one in the Regional finals to Bay City by four points. Oh, after the lost to Lincoln the first time we played them we beat them the second time we played them. The game with Bay City in the Regional finals was as a very good game.
