Chireno won their regional tournament in Austin to advance to the state tournament in San Antonio. This is a very dedicated group of young ladies. Our community is super proud tonight. Thanks for the memories. Let's finish this thing

Thanks REBgp  Looks like we will have our hands full with Nazareth but our girls seem to step up for big games. We just might have a couple of tricks left in our bag. Going to be fun either way. These girls have really worked hard to get to this point

I know for sure they've worked hard lol.  I sure hope y'all pull all the tricks out, and they work like a charm.  If you can, please post Quarterly updates of game.  I'll be checking. Good Luck!

If its any consolation, the boys have only won 6. It's the panhandle what else is their to do in the winter. Plus out of every town in Texas, and probably the entire country, Nazareth lives and dies basketball. The players harshest critics are their grandparents.

According to MaxPreps, Nazareth beat Chierno 52-29.  A friend told me today that the Owls best shooter, who made 3's from the parking lot when they played Evadale, was 1 for a bunch.  Just a bad day at a bad time.  Good season Lady Owls.

Hats off to Nazareth and Lipan. Chireno did not shoot the ball very well but Nazareth had a great team. Chireno shooter made 114 three pointers on the season but never adjusted to the huge floor in SA. Made just 1-14. Very good year for the lady owls. Hope the young kids remember the feeling of making the big dance and continue to work just as hard next year. It was a great ride this year for sure. Finished season with four losses and two of them were to the two teams playing in the last game of the season.

Tough to say but this season just like the last two years, it seemed like everyone was playing for 3rd with those two teams being stacked. Next year should change, but just making the state tournament is something to be proud of and something that will never be forgotten.

As for the champion surprised and glad that Lipan finally got by Nazareth. Lanie Roberts may go down as one of the greatest players in 1A history, but she had some pretty good teammates as well.
