WOSgrad Posted March 9, 2016 Report Share Posted March 9, 2016 The Silsbee Tigers look to take one step closer to the Texas Class 4A Basketball State Championship as they take on the Levelland Lobos in this state semifinal game. The Tigers, 30-5 on the season and Region III champions, began their playoff road with a 120-68 bi-district win over Liberty followed by a 104-59 area round victory over Houston Furr. After a 97-69 regional quarterfinal win over Houston Sterling and an 81-69 regional semifinal victory over Lufkin Hudson, the Tigers captured the Region III title and earned a trip to the State Championship Tournament with an 85-62 win over Navasota in the regional final. Meanwhile, the Lobos, 25-11 on the season and Region I champs, began their playoff path with a 66-49 bi-district win over Pampa followed by a 54-35 area round win over Seminole. After topping Lamesa 72-56 in the regional quarterfinal and Kennedale 69-65 in the regional semifinal, the Lobos beat Abilene Wylie 64-61 in the regional final to earn their spot in the tournament. The winner of this game will face the winner of the La Marque/Dallas Lincoln semifinal on Saturday at 7:00 pm for the the Class 4A State Championship.
