Texas trailed 2-0 after two periods, but awoke in the third as Kevin Baker, Paul Albers and Olivier Proulx scored to give Texas their first lead of the game. Baker added an empty netter to complete the comeback.John Hecimovic and David Wrigley scored first period goals for Pensacola and the Ice Pilots led 2-0 after the first 20 minutes. Hecimovic finished with five goals in the three game series. Trailing by the same score after two, the ‘Catters rallied again in the third period. Kevin Baker scored his first of the game at the 4:58 mark from Marco Rosa and Jeff State to cut the lead to 2-1. Then six minutes later, Paul Albers tied things up with his 11th of the season from Alex Leavitt and Mike Madill.The Wildcatters earned their first lead of the afternoon as Olivier Proulx came from behind the Pensacola net and put a spectacular backhanded shot past Ice Pilots’ goaltender Evan Lindsay to make it 3-2 Texas. Baker added an empty net goal, his 30th goal of the season and the Wildcatters won 4-2. Matt Yeats made 26 saves in net for the Wildcatters while Evan Lindsay had a solid game for Pensacola, making 43 saves in the loss. Texas finished the game 0 for 6 on the power play with the Ice Pilots going 0 for 5. The ‘Catters finish the 11 game series against Pensacola with an 8-2-1 record and went unbeaten in regulation at home, going 4-0-1. In the three game series this weekend, Mike Bayrack had four goals and three assists, Kevin Baker had four goals and four assists while Marco Rosa had seven helpers. The Wildcatters now prepare to host the Stockton Thunder from the National Conference for a three game series this coming Friday through Sunday.The Texas Wildcatters are the ECHL affiliate for the AHL’s Houston Aeros.
