I would say this was a surprise but I saw it coming. If anyone was gonna come with the new AD/HC from CY Ranch then Allen was a prime candidate.  Good young up and coming coach looking for a shot.

Of course, still pending approval.

Coach Hickman will be fine.  No doubts here on that note.

Rumor is he has been offered a spot on the staff, of course I'm also hearing that he has been approached by some other teams as well.

Again, just the rumor mill around town here which is still trying wrap their minds around the changes happening.

What did you expect? That's the nature of the coaching business.  A new guy is hired to run a program.  He is going to bring in 2 or 3 top assistants (usually to run his offense, defense, and special teams) that he knows, has his same philosophy, and he can trust.  Most places will give the coaches already on staff an opportunity to stay or leave on their own accord.  If you get into the coaching profession, you understand this, you may not like it or agree with it, but it's the business.

Michael Allen is a heck of a coach. He knows his stuff, will always be prepared, is great in film study and opponent breakdown, he will have the defense playing aggressive, smart and with reckless abandon. They will be fast to the ball, physical and force numerous turnovers. He is also an amazing motivator and relates very well to the kids. He is a great addition to the staff. Now, we will see who comes on the offensive side to hopefully balance out the run heavy head coach.

Why is being run heavy such a bad thing? Cy Ranch lost to a state champion Katy in the playoffs this year, in a later round I believe. Whatever offense he runs, it must be successful to play as they did in the Houston area.

You mean they lost to Katy, who runs out of the I with a tight end?  Impossible!  Teams simply can not win by doing that ;D

Because Silsbee has the self-proclaimed "best receiving corp in SETX," that's why.

And it's way past time for the players and their parents to stand up and be heard! This is SILSBEE, after all! Let Coach Smith hear it, Tigers!
