KFDM COOP Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Name your Private School player of the year!
Guest ECBucFan Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Don't know the names, but I know Cathedral and Kelly both have some great players! Also, I wished Cathedral was playing Galveston O'Connel (instead of in San Antonio). That way we could have had a local game, and more could attend (I would have tried!). Good Luck!
The One Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I would say it's out of Josh Ridgeway & Jaren Ford from Cathedral. For Kelly it would be out of Matthew Pace and Kheeston Randle.
Guest ECBucFan Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I know them now:Cathedral WarriorsJaren Ford: 1st team All-District and 1st team All State AcademicJosh Ridgeway: 1st team All DistrictMaurice Brown: 1st team All DistrictKellyMatthew PaceKheeston Randle
setxbbfan Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Ford is probably the best out of that group. Running the point took away from his scoring, but he is the complete package.
bmtcpa87 Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 You say Ford is the best of the group, but remember Kelly beat Cathedral by about 20 points in early January and I don't remember Ford doing much in that game except turning the ball over. He was out of control alot. He must have played better in district for them. That's the only time I saw Cathedral play, so maybe he had a bad game. But I would think head to head should count for something.
Glorydays79 Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Iam a kelly fan since i have a child there Matt Pace would be the overall stud to me, and as far as cathedral i saw them a few times over the summer, and against us and when they played EC and i would have to go wit Ridgeway for the warriors.
The One Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Yea bmtcpa87 you say Ford turn over the ball when he never really did he was in foul trouble the whole night and didn't really play so how could you say something like that and head to head doesn't count as nothing if one of the teams best player didn't really play. Oh Glorydays79 you say Josh Ridgeway is the overall choice he's good but i don't know about that. You only seen summer games and the EC game. I have seen them play all over the Golden Triangle and he didn't show up every game, but he is a good player. Ford is the complete package that gave up scoring to be point guard and help his team win. I bet he's happy since his ex mustangs teammates lost. Oh don't let me forget Matt Pace isn't a stud he plays a little dirty in my book seen him play a couple of times too. But they all are GOOD PLAYERS let's let them duke it out.
bmtcpa87 Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say Pace plays a little dirty. If by dirty you mean tough in your face aggressive defense, then maybe he is a little dirty. But I've never seen him do anything I would consider dirty.
hitemHigh Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Argueably Josh Ridgeway...because he plays all over from post to outside havn't really seen Ford go back to the basket and ive been to many Warrior games i mean as far as best guard yes definetly Ford he gets it but as far as "complete" package meaning everything i just havn't seen it yet maybe ill be surpirsed in the playoff run but don't get me wrong beleive me all these kids are great but as far as complete package from threes to back to the basket I gotta say Ridgeway and i agree Matt Pace style is just a little too dirty for my taste nevertheless great athelete but enough rambling my vote: Josh Ridgeway
The One Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Wow you sound just like a true Josh Ridgeway fan. It's tough to say that he's player of the year when he doesn't play any defense unlike Ford. He's still a good player though. Ridgeway only play low when Cathedral had only one big man now they have two and you won't see him down there anymore.

Ridgeway only play low when Cathedral had only one big man now they have two and you won't see him down there anymore. That may be and no iam not a "fan" i was just stating my opinion is all if anything there really isnt a super dominate player in Private school player area. About Ridgeway in the post i was just saying he has the ability to do it and do it well for his height not that thats its his position so just as you say Ford has the upper hand on D he has the upper hand in the paint but i mean heck these guys are teammates so i mean it can be argued down to the wire who is better and what not but in the end they both win...GL in the playoffs Gentlemen of Cathedral and Kelly
Lazeek Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Ford is the best Private player in SE Texas....he transferred from WOS where he was a good player as well.
bmtcpa87 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Lazeek how many private school games have you been to this year or is this just blanket statement because he came from WOS? I don't see where he came from as a issue at all. How many times have you seen Kelly and Cathedral play this year? Just curious what you based your opinion on.
Lazeek Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I have seen Cathederal about 4 times and Kelly twice. Kelly has some really good players, but IMO Ford is the best player. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers!!!!
bmtcpa87 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Didn't ruffle my feathers. Alot of people go on boards and state opinions based on nothing more than what they've heard, but if you have seen both teams play and that's your opinion then that's fine. I'm not as impressed with Ford as you are and I have seen him play a couple of times. But you are obviously entitled to your opinion. And I do think both teams have some very good players.
The One Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Man bmtcpa87 you should go learn basketball just a little more you only seem Ford play what one time. Your a Kelly fan and stick to that because you have no clue what you been talking about the whole time but i respect your opinion.
Txfootball07 Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Jaren Ford and Matthew Pace are a lot alike. They both are relentless on defense - both play at a high level of speed and both can score. I love the way both of these guys play basketball - the way they hustle. I have nothing but compliments to both of these young men. Having said all of this - my vote is for J Ford for private school player of the year.
bmtdc1996 Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 I have seen Ford play several times this year, but after seeing his outstanding play at the regional playoff game yesterday I feel like he is a definite candidate for any kind of player of the year. As has been stated, he was relentless on defense making countless steals as well as rebounds and assists on the offensive end. He's quick and a pretty good ball handler as well.
Dawg_Pride Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 My vote goes to Torre Henry of Kelly. His jumping makes up for his size. He can out-rebound anyone.
hitemHigh Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Ha well all this could just keep going on and on so how about thi Private School All-Star team(starters)1.Ford2.Pace3.Ridgeway4.Henry5.Rhandle6.?7.?8.?9.?10.?what ya think people?
