New Caney head basketball coach Damien Bates will be leaving to take the head basketball position at Frankston.

Really going to miss Coach Bates, one of the good ones.

Frankston has a rich tradition in basketball. Should be a good place to coach.

Thank you for the kind words and yes it is true that I'll be leaving at the end of the year.  With hard work, belief and buy-in by the kids, we were able to take a program who won 3 games and only made the playoffs twice in school history to back to back playoffs and 20 win seasons in only 4 seasons.  Frankston is rich in tradition mainly due to Coach Loper who is a legend.  He amassed over 600 wins while at Frankston.  I only hope that I can continue the tradition.  Best of luck to all the SETX teams and I definitely ain't going to miss playing the Beaumont schools in the first round every year!
