Pantherpaws Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I heard a rumor yesterday that the Head Coach is leaving??? Is this true or just another rumor??? Can anyone confirm or deny this.
KFDM COOP Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 It's possible. That's all i know at this time.
Deer Slayer Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 The school board did not renew his contract for next year, going against the recommendation of the Super. This is a BAD, BAD mistake. The coach was there 1 year. They never let him get his program off the ground. Sounds like it's time for some new board members.
StangBacker Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Is this really true? Does anyone know why he was not renewed? Was it the football record or something else? Any info??
Guest ECBucFan Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 From what I hear, that was a GOOD man in a BAD situation. Rob will probably be better off by moving on. Best wishes!
Pantherpaws Posted February 22, 2007 Author Report Posted February 22, 2007 Well I hear its true. I have children in Anahuac and was wanting to know if it was the truth. It was confirmed yesterday. Not sure what the Board or Super was thinking. How can anyone get let go and not even be there a year? What is the real story here? This all a little strange.
AHUDDLESTON Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 There may be more to it. This could simply be a matter of wins and losses. They had high expectations dropping to 2A. I don't know if they were realistic expectations or not. I haven't seen what kind of athletes they currently have.
DP#1FAN Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Great athletes but a coach cannot make you have heart. They underestimated just how tuff the district was going to be. You had a few teams that played with not many athletes but the team was loaded with heart. 1 season is not fair to the players or coach. JMO
hattie Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 This is not a wise decision. Coach Davis is a great man and a great coach. If it is true. He will be better going somewhere else. Something similar happended to me and it was the best thing for my career. I learned what to look for in a job and what not to. Went to a program where the kids have heart and desire to win. Good luck Rob, I hope this turns out as good for you as it did me.
Guest BLADE Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Good luck Coach Davis. You deserve much better treatment. Sad situation for Anahuac's kids. >
Zoneblock Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Keep your chin up Rob Find you a job and make like cowcrap and hit the trail.
snowflake Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 THE SUPER RECOMENDED A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT. THE BOARD PRESIDENT SECONDED THE MOTION. THE FINAL VOTE WAS 3-3 WITH ONE PERSON ABSTAINING. THERE WAS NO ACTION TAKEN ON THE CONTRACT BECAUSE OF THIS. HE WAS NOT "NON-RENEWED." SOUNDS LIKE ANAHUAC NEED SOME NEW BOARD MEMBERS. AT LEAST ONE WHO WOULD BE MAN ENOUGH TO VOTE YES OR NO. WHAT A COWARD.
AHUDDLESTON Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Does Rob still have a year left on his current contract, or did they only give him a one year contract?
CoachTater Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 In a special board meeting tonight, Rob Davis was offered a one year contract for the 2007-2008 school year. The board voted 7-0.
Guest ECBucFan Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I hope the community, and the players will support Rob.
KFDM COOP Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Coach Davis needs a Chance!!! Give him more time Geez!!!

nowherebutup Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 As for the coward that did not vote, that statement is false. The board member was not present for the board meeting therefore he could not vote. Get facts straight guys. Anahuac has been a revolving door for coaches and the kids are the ones that have suffered. The amount of talent and athletes in this little place is unbelievable but there has never been a coach that has been hired that has been given a true chance. Last great coach I know of that turned Anahuac around was Robert Walker in the late 80's and early 90's. He started with girls track and did an unbelievable job with them. The ones that have stayed seem to do what the super wants so they can keep their job. From what I have heard, the board is after the super and not Rob. I think Rob is staying and he does deserve a chance. He is a great man and he loves the kids.
