As I stated on the "channel surfing stop for movie", I like Cormac McCarthy and specifically, No Country for Old Men and Blood Meridan.  One other is W.E.B. Griffin who has several series, including one called The Corp, consisting of 10 books that are historically accurate, but the characters are fictional.

Cormac McCarthey is one of my favorites.  Stephen King as well.  I also enjoy Michael Connely and John Sandford, who both write murder mystery type stories.

My wife and I read two mystery series by M.C. Beaton.  Got them all read and was looking for another.  Thanks for the tip.

Both authors have multiple series, but for Sandford his "prey" books are good, and Connely has the Harry Bosch series.

I'm not what you would call well read, but I do like me some Stephen King. Sometimes I can read a page then wonder what I just read. Very frustrating. Have read quite a few of his books though.

I use to read King.  Not my genre for reading, but the guy is a fantastic writer.  My favorite was Pet Sematary, but the movie absolutely butchered the book.  Do like most of the movies though.

Just like Star Wars too.

The greatest Anti-Hero of all time, Flashman (series) by George MacDonald Fraser. Set in the days when the British Empire ruled the world.   Eventually achieves the rank of general, and described as a liar, a cheat, a scoundrel, a coward, and a toady.   Hilarious fiction, but historically accurate.

First book published in 1969 so they're almost as old as me.
