Eazy
Looks like illegal pitches are making their annual presence at the State Tournament. They called about 6 of them on the Harleton pitcher in the 1st inning. Also. The Crawford reliever came in and gave up at least 3, including the run rule walk-off. REALLY!!!
There was lots called in the Woodville Buna series. If as an umpire you don't call them ALL year it is a disservice to the kid.

If as an umpire you don't call them ALL year it is a disservice to the kid. There are umpires that will not call them and you usually will not see those umpires in the playoffs or even in the state tournament. There are rules about practically everything in softball and if it's in the rule book, then it should be called. I've seen illegal pitches run the gamut from quick pitching to crow-hopping off the rubber. It can be a rude awakening for a pitcher who is used to pitching a certain way to be called for an illegal pitch but if she is being called for it then she has to adjust to it, just like a batter has to adjust to each umpire's personal strike zone. If a pitcher is getting away with illegal pitches during the regular season, it's not fair to the pitcher who may be pitching the right way.
