texaslonghorn14
With the UIL allowing three and four teams to go to the playoffs, I was wondering what was considered a great program now. So I came up with this criteria for a ten year window, tell me what you think. 1. Exceptional- multiple state championship appearances and at least one title in ten years 2.Great- Semis or better three times 3. Good- Second round or better in five of ten years 4. Average- Playoffs in five of ten years 5. Decent- Playoffs in three or less years 6. Below- Two or below playoff appearances in ten years This is not perfect but i am just curious of what will be said Scatright, griff, Mr. Buddy Garrity and 3 others

Making the playoffs shouldn't be the benchmark any more. The avg district size is around 6-7 teams. So you finished 4th of 6 and that's success? OldBallCoach90
It would be nice if it went back to the top two teams. I hated seeing a 0-10 Scarborough team in the playoffs. Scatright
Mr. Buddy Garrity
Even 3 teams in playoffs from every district would be good, give the district champ a bye week. CAL2TEX, griff, Alpha Wolf and 2 others

I can see that being good... I would prefer teams in the playoff with a .500 win percentage or better. And I like giving the DC a first round bye. I've seen many 4th place teams better than other district champs or runners up. It all gets weeded out after week 1 of playoffs anyway. I just don't think making the playoffs can be used alone as a criteria for a successful season.
Cougar14.2
Well, using this criteria I guess we're good? 2006: 1st round baptism by Dayton 2007: 1st round re-born baptism by Dayton 2008: 1st round beat Lumberton, 2nd round 31-24 loss Brenham 2009: 1st round beat Nederland, 2nd round beat Montgomery, 3rd round 27-20 loss Dawson 2010: 1st round beat Nederland, 2nd round loss Montgomery 2011: 1st round loss to a team that shall remain nameless 2012: 1st round beat Ozen, 2nd round loss Manor 2013: 1st round beat PNG, 2nd round loss Elgin 2014: 1st round beat Ozen, 2nd round beat PLC, 3rd round beat Brenham, 4th round beat Hutto, 5th round loss Cedar Park 2015: 1st round beat Lumberton, 2nd round loss FB Ridge Point 7 of 10 years past the first round.
