PhatMack19 Posted August 3, 2016 Author Report Posted August 3, 2016 Basically kid moved back to the States from Africa and was placed in the 8th grade as an 11 yr old. Promoted to 9th but struggled and had to retake the grade again. Technically this is his 5th year of HS, but it's still BS. I guess Lake Travis and Todd Dodge don't have the pull that Katy does with the UIL. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 I don't see the problem here. He's played 4 years of high school football. He's done. 77 1 Quote

He played Freshman year? Also if this was Katy, SLC, Celina or Permian he would be on the field and this wouldnt be a story. Quote

Should have repeated the 8th grade if he wasn't ready for hs. Quote
OldBallCoach90 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Happen to a kid my Sr year... Repeated 9th and couldn't play his 5th year. Which is understandable. Quote

Sterling had a very good player in the late 90's that aged out his senior season. It's just how it is. There are just no 19/20 year olds legally playing high school football. West Lake has plenty of pull. Quote

bulldog16 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Yes he is ok age wise, but he already played his 4 years so he's not able to play this year. Should've repeated the 8th grade. Quote
pe2009 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Clear as day....4 years of eligibility are up. In terms of "Pull"....I think Westlake and Dodge have waaaayyyy more pull than Katy. Imagine if Coach Joseph had a "Coach Joseph RB Camp" in Austin and Dallas and stud RB's dads all of a sudden got jobs on Katy's staff. Quote

UIL made the right call for Katy...AD was at fault. Katy got probation....and if that's not enough...the kid they are on probabtion for has since changed schools AGAIN lol Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote

MackLewis Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Don't kid yourselves. Everybody that's somebody in Austin, and within the UIL send their kids to Westlake or Lake Travis. You can say they run the UIL, but rules are still rules. Even 4* offensive tackles from Westlake can't play 5 years of high school football. pe2009 and outanup 2 Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted August 4, 2016 Report Posted August 4, 2016 Depending on circumstance, you can play 5 years in high school. Case in point, Elam at Silsbee. Quote

dillonpanthers Posted August 4, 2016 Report Posted August 4, 2016 Unfortunately, right or wrong, the rule is 4 years of high school eligibility. When you enter high school your time starts. Period. Whoever placed him in 8th grade as an 11 year old is at fault here. Pretty crazy to think that a kid this highly recruited won't play a down this year. Quote
