WOS95 Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 congrats to lady bobcats on a great season.
Guest tigersvoice Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Revel in a great season, Bobcats. I feel your pain.
Guest bleed orange Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 All I can say is our girls fought till the end. This was a game we should have won. But if, " Ifs were buts and beer was nuts we would all have a party". I am not going to complain about the refs, but man I sure want to. Congrats to our seniors. I will miss you guys. You gave us 4 wonderful years. Ok I can't stand it, we got hosed!!!!!!! On the serious side we missed to many freethrows towards the end and that hurt us. But that did not lose the game for us. The girls played awesome. We just did not play smart sometimes. But we have to remember they are just kids and they handle pressure situation pretty dang good for their age. I am proud of you girls.
Gabe Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 For now I will only say congratulations to the Lady Bobcats on a terrific season and thank you for making my job so easy. It was great to cover you girls and it was a pleasure to see the faces I remembered covering from when I first worked at the OL. Dont hang you heads, it is more than a great accomplishment making it to the regional tournament two years in a row. Most schools can only dream of it. I will get into how I really feel about the game in a column for Sunday! cause yes, the lady cats got hosed more than once.
KFDM COOP Posted February 24, 2007 Author Report Posted February 24, 2007 Diboll holds off Orangefield in OTGabe PruettThe Orange LeaderHUNTSVILLE — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats sensational run through the playoffs ran into a familiar brickwall Friday night at the Class 3A Regional Tournament.Making their second-straight trip to the semi-finals, the Lady Bobcats felll just short of a trip to the regional final to Diboll by a score of 65-58 in overtime. It took a strong and heart-filled run to even force overtime as the Lady Bobcats trailed by 15 at one point in the second period. In overtime, the Lady Bobcats (28-8) were forced to play without four starters after fouling out and simply could not keep up with the quick Lady Jacks (30-6).Diboll was a calm 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the overtime period and forced five overtimes in the extra frame. In all, eight players from both teams fouled out of the contest as the referees played a big part in the style of play. Orangefield was led by senior Kristy Sanders who chimed in 15 points in her last game as a Lady Bobcat. Senior Jessica Shores, the only remaining starter in the overtime period, had 11 points, six rebounds and six steals to finish off her great Orangefield career.A total of seven Lady Bobcats played their last game for Orangefield. In all four years around the court for the Lady Bobcats, the group reached the playoffs each season, including the back-to-back trips to Huntsville. AshlyHasBeen Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 First I would like to say I hated having to leave the game after the 3rd, I had to get back for the 10. This team is full of warriors. They could have called it a night when they were down 11-0, or when they trailed by 17 in the second but they refused to. I have really enjoyed this group over the past few years and will truly miss them. I guess the reason I enjoy this team so much is despite their great winning pct. when compared to the size of other teams they seem like the underdogs only to run circles around them. My girl Kristie Sanders is a perfect example of this, despite hitting the floor over and over she just gets right back up just like this entire team, Kristie I'll miss your interviews you've come really far in 3 years, lol. Kaylin I was right there with you tonight on those foul calls, sorry you got such a raw deal in such a big game. To Coach Ancelot great job to keep your team in the game, heck I was getting fired up standing next to the bench maybe you would look good wearing Cardinal red again (hint, hint). Overall it sucks to lose in the playoffs as a senior as many of us know, me included. It's a sudden dose of reality that makes you realize you're growing up. And even though years from now you'll think about tonight as you grow you begin to understand it's not the wins or losses that matter down the line it's the family that you have built with your team. That is what makes athletics special, knowing that this family will be with you for the rest of your life. Congrats on a great season!
