Maybe Aggie can shed some light on it. Mackey always seemed to get along great with his teammates in football and basketball. The move mid training camp to a 1A school is head scratching.

Obviously some hurt feelings with the coaching change and subsequent coaching changes. Mackey will probably regret this decision at some point. There will be a Friday night when he's suiting to play the mighty Sabine Pass Sharks, while his Silsbee teammates are matching up with WOS, and he will feel the sting of a really bad decision.

Yes, obviously hurt feelings/issues with the coaching situation. If his dad went after the job, like was reported, it makes sense that he's upset.

However, if his dad is staying and he's leaving, that is very strange. Especially to go to such a smaller school. Now his dad will miss all his games this year. Weird.

No his Dad is not coaching football, so he will be able to see the games.  Not sure how much Kolten had to do with this decision if he had any to do with it at all.

Idk. I just assume he raises the bar that night. Instead of going 10 rec. for 140 yds, he will go 20 rec for 245 yds.....LOL

But you got a point. When u step down from a Silsbee level career to 2a (esp that district) it's like having a HS beast playing with JH kids.

Lmao!!!  Catching 12-15 passes for over 150-200 yards versus SP in one half of action probably wont have him feeling any kind of sting. You know what would be hilarious here with this situation: Evadale having a longer playoff run than Silsbee due to Mackey.

I was just thinking the same thing.

I know who Silsbee is losing to, when that game comes........I just don't know how far Evadale can go, to be honest.

Evadale 2 A was gonna have a great season this year anyway and this just intensifies it ! We are big and fast ...just so all you big school people that like to make fun of small schools! You may want to come watch instead of assuming!

Whatever the story is, I'd place good odds on the proposition that the story will have to be recounted, in detail, at the next 12-2A-II executive district meeting.

Evadale usually does have decent seasons until the first round of playoffs or second after a bye. With Mackey they possibly get over that hump of one and done.
