stevenash
Just noticed that the CEO of Fed Ex earned an "obscene" pay of $13.7 million last year while the CEO at UPS earned a slightly less "obscene" amount of$ 6.2 million last year. What a shame, between the two of them, they took home an "unconscionable" 19.9 million dollars. Do you realize how many jobs, college educations, or healthcare premiums that could have paid? We need the government to step in and make things more fair because the government is an expert on productivity, efficiency, and fairness. I forgot to add, the U.S. Postal service lost $1.5 billion in the first quarter of 2015. I don't know about anyone else but that $19.9 million in a year looks like a real bargain compared to 1.5 billion in a quarter. Additionally, UPS and FedEx have also been able to operate without defaulting on any of their debts while the productivity, efficiency, fairness experts have not. 77
new tobie
Companies in southeast Texas have made record profits, have given their ceo's record salaries and bonuses, yet pass on insurance cost and give minimal raises to their employees. Especially the chemical plants and refineries that pollute the air in southeast tx (and would like to pollute more). They definitely don't need to be passing on more insurance cost when they are part of the problem. I wish that republicans had tried to do anything about healthcare, it would have been more acceptable. Someone could have said that Ronnie Reagan came to them in a dream or something. NDOMAKONG
Do you have data on the record profits, CEO record salaries, and bonuses for our area plants. Would be interested to see it in black and white. Thanks.

Seems like you agree with guy in Milwaukee. The rich should give it away. I don't understand that mentality. I am by no means rich, but I dang sure don't expect a handout. 77

stevenash
What you don't understand is that, when the government gets involved ( with the noble intent of making things less costly) those very things get more expensive. The solution to such issues is an open, competitive market rather than some bureaucrat trying to manipulate things. 1 gigabyte of memory cost 40,000 in the early 90's. You now get 64 gig in a $99 phone with a 2 year contract. 64 gigs at early 90s pricing would be over 2.5 million today. This was achieved with innovation in the private market place. Trust me when I tell you that Al Gore could not have made this happen. 77

Additional upward pressure came from: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+13.58 percent from +12.83 percent in June); transports (+6.61 percent from +6.34 percent); health (+11.53 percent from +11.79 percent); education (+9.19 percent from +9.15 percent); and recreation and leisure activities (+8.15 percent from +8.04 percent

baddog
I wish Hillary and her Clinton Foundation would spread some of that wealth around just like the rich people they are going after with their corporate greed slogan. Hypocrites made their fortune in a capitalistic society (without a company) and then do everything in their power to destroy it with socialism. May they burn in hell. And while making that $19.9 million, they made self sufficient hundreds of thousands of employees, and provided many benefits. Bill & Hillary made $100 million and employ virtually no one. Hillary & Bernie like to talk about redistribution of the wealth, but certainly not theirs. Why doesn't one of these progressive Democrats stand up and say, "Your right Hillary, give your money to the poor". Maybe he values his life. baddog

My post should have said, Earning that $19.9 million. Then, Hill & Bill accumulated $100. Although even "accumulated" sounds to bland.
