Hupernikomen Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 Whats your biggest surprise of this week? WO-S and Lumberton had blowouts, but no real surprise. Westbrook murdered Ozen but that was expected. Dayton squeezed past Nederland to put the Dogs at 0-2 is a bit surprising (not near as surprising as Navasota being 0-2..thinking that school board might be taking some heat over the coaching debacle). Any time North Short loses is a surprise to me. Barbers Hill with two blow outs to start the year reminds of the old days when they would go 10-0..and bomb out of the playoffs (sorry Jody, but you know it is true), Is everyone still convinced BH can't make the playoffs, or have they begin to change some minds? Bridge City going 2-0 has them surprising a few folks, will they make a game out of the annual battle with WO-S--doubtful. Now to my biggest surprises.. #5 Beckville 77-67 over West Sabine. What a shoot out. Would have loved to have witnessed this track meet. #4 Newton 49 Silsbee 33 Not really a huge surprise, but still hoping the Tigers can turn the corner on this season. I bet they do. #3 Woodville 28-14 over Madisonville. I know Madisonville has been down some the last two years, but just saying Woodville over CC last week felt weird and now add Madisonville to that really is surprising to me. The Eagles might have a special team up there in Tyler County. #2 Tarkington beating EC really surprised a lot of people when comparing last weeks scores to this matchup. Tarkington continues to seek to change opinions after two successful season that led to playoff appearance (who can forget that awesome win over Mexia?) Proud for the Horns and hope this gets the ball rolling for them. #1 Shepherd 37-33 over Coldspring. A lot has changed for both of these two teams this year. Shepherd graduated a ton of talent and Coldspring is still trying to rebound from a coaching change. Any time that Shepherd beats Coldspring it is a big deal in San Jacinto County. I am not so surprised that they beat them as I think both of these teams are rebuilding, I am surprised at how they beat them. Shepherd was losing 33-7 and roared back to win 37-33. Can you imagine the emotional swings in both sets of fans? Wow, what a comeback. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
