robanadana Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Complete football game for the Pirates. Need to work on the needless penalties but great performance from the best running back combination in the area and solid defense. mytwocents-28 1 Quote

Yes, I'd be interested to see how many penalties the Pirates had tonight.  Luckily they could overcome them.  I think Ozen only had two or three calls.  Defense has definitely shown improvement over last year.  As for the offense, two weeks in a row with no punts or turnovers and that running back combo lit it up tonight. Even the second teamers playing in the 4th qtr. kept moving the ball.  You could see that in the 3rd and 4th quarters, Coach Matthews had the QBs milking the 40 second clock every play. robanadana 1 Quote
robanadana Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Mav is doing a great job running the offense with that triple threat back there and good blocking. I don't think I've ever seen us with a better one - two punch than Leckelt and Humble. Better speed than we've ever had...don't ever remember beating Ozen to the corners and up the field. Hogan Stogner is a beast at fullback. C'mon wit it puppy dogs!! Quote
Tim Riggins Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Ozen was able to prevent  a lot of big yardage plays, but seems like Vidor was picking up first downs on second down quite a bit and methodically driving the ball.  I know on their first two drives they had a quarter's worth of possession time. Colby Humble is tough at running back but the offense just didn't click with him at QB, IMO. Quote

After watching Vidor play against central (qb is a STUD), and seeing these last two weeks for us, may be a different story this year. Vidor is the real deal this year! And besides our guys playing horribly, I can't be more happier for y'all! Yalls coaching staff is full of who coached us in high school: credeur, light, and Richard. All great guys and I enjoyed playing for them, and coach Matthews seems like a very good man and coach as well. JollyRoger81 and Sleepy1 2 Quote
