stevenash Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 The tradition of standing for the national anthem is rooted in federal law, according to historians. The U.S. Flag Code, passed in 1942, states that all civilians present during the playing of the anthem while the U.S. flag is displayed "should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart." I would be interested in your answer to your question, please? Do you believe following the law is "the right thing to do" or do you believe that if I am a baker, I shouldn't have to bake a cake for a gay wedding or if I am a country clerk, I shouldn't have to give a gay couple a marriage license or if I am a merchant, I can refuse service to anyone that I please?
