Probably stems back to 1978 when you turned the lights out on our side, after we beat you. Thanks to that I got to watch my 7 month pregnant mother stumble down the steps trying to leave. Or was it the kids throwing rocks as us after the game. Look... I was young, but it happened and apparently you haven't changed. You are still the cry babies of the Golden Triangle. Let's say the hand of God reaches down and Vidor actually defeats a team the 85 Bears could not....what will be your excuse? I think most of the area hoping you lose because of your arrogance. There are some respectful Indians fans, but you are way too few and far between. The odds are against us, but I prefer it that way. A Vidorian is always an underdog and it makes victory that much more sweet. Your air stinks the same as ours so just keep talking your trash. I'm going to continue to take my break from the boards until the game. I have a life outside this board. Just one little fact before I go, we have won the last two election year games. Now rip me apart. Might be the most ignorant rant/message I've ever read on this Board. What you call arrogance, is just community that is proud of its heritage and tradition, AS SHOULD EVERYBODY!!!! At the end of the day regardless of which team wins, The Indian Community is still going to be proud community and would hope Vidor is the same way. At the end of the day all I hope for is great and entertaining football game that leaves both teams injury free and helps both clubs prepare for a playoff run. Quote

Your prized QB will see the field less than he has all season. I hope he throws down the middle cause we have safeties that will read his eyes and jump the routes. CBs on an island can be exposed. But he will need time to hit them. Will he hold on to the ball when our DL hit him from behind? Our PF and PA is comparable considering we have played an additional game. It will not be the cake walk you have been having inappropriate day dreams about. I'm just talking smack,i know it will be a game, and good lucck getting to our qb he hasn't been touched yet, when the heat comes at him he can fly and will torch your def,he is vary smart he's not your normal 10 grade starting qb this kid looks like a senior out there, and as far as your off yall havn't faced a run stopping def yet thats as good as ours so i can promise you that vidor won't get the numbers there used too getting ,they will get the def off the field,i talk alot of crap but i know the facts,i know it will be a game, and as far as our recievers good luck stopping them, they are big and fast, yall are in for a good air show, like i said if the pass protection breaks down the qb will shoot up that field so fast by the time you know it he will have ten yards like its nothing, hes also hard to tackle and tough as nails,he won't run away from def when there closing close in,he loves the contact,he wasn't always a qb he played def before started qb,so yall will have yalls hands full of all kinds of problems, and not just stopping our run,our rb is pretty good him self quick and shifty, good luck im looking far a great hard fought game. You must not get on here much 1209, if that's "the most ignorant rant/message you've ever read on this board" lol. To clarify, although it may be construed as a "rant", I don't see the "ignorant" part. The poster had a bad experience many years ago on the reservation and it still sticks in his craw. As does the animosity towards Indian fans. Much of the rest of the post is merely his opinion, which is what the Forum is for. If you go back and read the whole thread, through the eyes of a Pirate fan (which is probably impossible for an Indian, if in fact you are) you'll see many references (brags) to the number of beatings PNG has handed Vidor. And even though true, it's not that relevant to this game, as you should know based on Vidor beating Ned in Nederland (first time in 35 years). And I can assure you, for Pirate fans, it gets old. And for the record, I agree 100% with your last two sentences. Since both teams should be in the playoffs, come Saturday morning (hmm, sounds like an old song), I would hope most of the fans will be backing both teams as they prepare to confront the villains (joke) of 21-5A. To speak of hatred towards a community/program because of a few events that happened in the 70's! C'mon man really? You guys have a good team what every 4 or 5 years if that much? You guys have a good team this year, but don't hate on a program that is full of tradition and pride. I Agree most schools in the area don't care for PNG but most respect the program as they should. Before you speak out of your A$$, do some research on the community/program first. Love them or hate them they have errand their respect. Once known as Grisby's Bluff, the area was formally the site of an Atakapa Indian Village. Where 6 burial mounds were, Honor pride and the land of tradition was formed and the rest is history. I could go on, The Honor pride and tradition is real! These kids truly care for the community/ program. The program has always been a strong presence on the Texas high school scene. PNG is among the top ten percent of winning programs in all state classifications for all time. For you to call them arrogant maybe they are, but any school would if they had the same Honor Pride and Tradition as these Indians have. And all past Indian teams. So talk your smack which is pure jeliously of the Tradition rich program. I don't get on here often and I won't respond to any of your uneducated comments about PNG. Good luck this week to your team and enjoy playing on these sacred grounds called the Reservarion. Well, your post has some interesting history on your community. Personally, I enjoyed the lesson. I love history. And though I'm not cognizant of the football history between these two teams in the last 26 years, I saw many games prior to 1990. Was PNG good most of the time? Almost always. When Doug Ethridge was coaching them in the 70's, they were referred to as the University of PNG. I also remember many games when they never pulled their starters, even though leading by 50 points. PNG had a back named Jeff "the Jet" Bergeron, I think he made All State, but he could fly. I was watching the game and kept waiting for them to pull him. Don't remember the exact score, about 64-6, but Jeff scored that last TD. Point is, for many older folks, they remember those many time when the score was ran up on Vidor. Fair? You bet. Classless? You bet. Not blaming the community of PNG, just explaining why many don't respect your Honor, Pride and Tradition. It's not jealousy. Here endeth the lesson. Expect it to be a Great Game. Hope it's injury free. Go Pirates Realville 1 Quote

Last time I checked the game is played for 48 minutes, if I were a coach I would play my starters till the last whistle blew. I had the most unfortunate privelage of having to have Jeff the Jet as my coach, dude is a Jerk period. Don't get me started, I would say I have respect for him but I would be lying to you. Don't think people haven't ran the score up on us, we got thrashed 75 -0 in my senior in 88. Opps, I better dial it back. Forgot our rivals probably just a twinkling idea of what classical music is. You are fricken clueless. Our fight song CHEROKEE is an old Jazz song....NOT TAKEN FROM FSU. Maybe you don't have a "twinkling" idea of what Jazz music is. At least we have our own version of it. Yall just play the same one This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up From the PNG website: In the early 1950s Frank Gioviale was instrumental in starting a girls marching group that became the famous Indianettes. Beaumont High School’s school song was “Our Director.” So was Port Neches’. Frank decided to compose a tune that was different and unique to Pt. Neches. He did, and the choir director wrote the lyrics. In fact, Frank wrote two songs but the people in the community did not like them. They wanted “Our Director.” So it stayed as the school song. Around 1955 the band began playing “Cherokee” as a pep song. Frank arranged this song to be played as a chant that would instantly be recognized. Lynne Jeffrey (now Lynne James) wrote the words to “Cherokee” in 1959. Also in 1959 the twirlers created white fringe traditional Indian uniforms with sequined belts. Cecile Holstead, drum majorette, wore the first headdress. In the early and mid 1960s the Marching “I” was developed and added to the half time performances. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you're referring to War Chant that we play every now and then when the team is on Defense and the fans do the chop in the stands...now that is from FSU. That is NOT our Fight Song We have been smack talking with all the Vidor fans...go on with your little dark cloud OFF of Soap Box now! NDNMOM34 1 Quote

Which for a football fan is not enjoyable when you want to get a picture of the game. But, I guess its better than nothing if you cannot attend the game. He is a die hard fan, and has good intentions... In his defense when #22 is constantly making phenomenal plays he definitely deserves to be talked about. I think some of the people on this thread should try to call PNG games and see how easy its NOT. I have heard that they are given MANY rules as to what UIL/coaches will allow them to say and what they are not allowed to say. So when you're constantly having to be mindful of those many rules I dont think its as easy as "just calling the game." No, while I may be a tad senile, I do remember The Jet making the last TD. He came off the field with his helmet off, He was hotdogging when hotdogging wasn't cool. It was 1973 and score was 52-6 (had to look it up on History thread). And it's possible he ran behind the second string OL. I will agree that in those days, yes, the second string for PNG would have probably won Dist. I went to the Astrodome backing the Indians about that time, so probably saw you play. Had another TB who I thought made All State (in some selection). Think his name was Blake Green, but not sure. Y'all had a big tight end, who's name escapes me, but he recovered an offensive fumble in the end zone for a TD, in the game I attended. And in 1975, which I believe is the year y'all won state, you only beat Vidor 28-22. Probably your closest Dist game. You must remember, in my initial post, I was talking about a span of 22 years. Not just when you played. And that, my friend is a FACT. Quote
