Goblin Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 I've been trying to finish up the old SFA history and was just wondering if there were any old-timers out there that can tell me why and when Port Acres became known as SFA. I've found yearbooks back to the 1940's with the school officially named Stephen F. Austin High but newspapers and media in general didn't start calling it SFA consistently until the 1960's. Couldn't find anything on the PISD site really. Quote
NDNation Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 My father in law played QB for SFA..way way back. He told us stories of how they would haze the freshman and coach would give them licks..lol Quote
SFA85 Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 Normally, when we won, we were Port Arthur. When we lost, the by-line was Port Acres........ Quote
Goblin Posted October 18, 2016 Author Report Posted October 18, 2016 You didn't lose very often. Pretty consistently won with some really good seasons over the years. Quote
