PhatMack19 Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Pretty awesome "On December 15, 2015, Heyward signed an eight-year, $184 million contract with the Cubs. One of his first acts after signing his contract was to pay for hotel suites large enough to accommodate teammate David Ross, his wife, and their three young children on all of the Cubs' road trips during the 2016 season. Ross, set to retire after the 2016 season, had been Heyward's teammate during his first three seasons in Atlanta, and Heyward considered him a key mentor in his early MLB career." Quote

I have watched the cubs all my life, ever since I was old enough to walk, it was just something you grew up with where I was born, much like a Dallas Cowboy fan of the 60s. Moving to SE Texas in 1978 I left behind my roots except for one my love of the cubs of summer. Now I am asking myself is this really happening. I watched my dad wish so much he could see the cubs win the world series but that was not possible. After years of frustration and being poked fun at by my friends and all the kids I played ball with and yes even adults who thought I was crazy for rooting for the loveable losers, I now wait for game 7 of the world series and I sit and wonder what could go wrong. A win will let me breathe a sigh of relief and shed a tear of joy for all those years that only a true cub fan can feel. I will celebrate quietly and thank all the players this year for what they have done for me and all the other faithful cub fans around the country. Yes even those fans and players who have left us will smile down upon them tonite. ON THE OTHER HAND IF IT DOESNT GO MY WAY I WILL TURN TO MY WIFE AND SIMPLY SAY "MAYBE NEXT YEAR" Congrats man. I still hate the Cubs(and the rest of the NL Central, so don't feel special.) I have to admit they have the most loyal fans in any sport. They show up every year no matter how bad the team was. Y'all waited 108 years and earned every bit of this one. Quote
underarmor Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 We dont feel special but are humbled by the experience that many loyal cub fans never got to see. (Wait till next year)now has a different meaning. All is good in Wrigleyville and Thanks. If you ever have the chance to visit wrigley field do it, but be careful they grow on you like the ivy on the walls. Quote
