2016 Election

We have so many protected classes in this country.  However, it appears that the one unprotected and forgotten sector ( the gun toting, bible clinging. t shirt clad, beer drinking Walmart shopper)made a statement in the election demanding that they no longer be ignored.  I personally find it rewarding to know that their vote counts every bit as much as the vote of the "enlightened".  Looks like Lone Star beer "Trumps" a Starbucks latte.

I'm curious.  President Obama was crushed for not having any experience, yet you vote for a man the actually doesn't have ANY EXPERIENCE AT ALL, disrespects Hispanics and muslims, along with other minorities, has admitted to sexual assault and apologized (bs) for it.  Has admitted to barging  in on young girls while they're getting dressed for his pageant. Disrespects women, disrespected the handicap, disrespected a celebrated fellow republican PRISONER OF WAR.  Doesn't pay taxes because he had a BILLION dollar loss awhile back and found a loop hole and somehow he's said to RELATE to working class and poor whites.  Oh yea, disrespected the military by saying he knows more about ISIS than the actual men and women that fight for this country, but never served himself.

I guess so.  Good choice guys.

My man, all of this came from his MOUTH.  Either said it in interviews, on the campaign trail, or on televised shows.  HE said he was smart for using the loop holes and not paying taxes.  A billionaire bragging about not paying taxes (who does that??) and (what working people are ok with that??)

He wasn't voted for because he is good or may be. In fact Trump really never got over about 35% support even among Republicans. He simply outlasted 16 other candidates (spreading their votes among many) because of star power.

That was the primary. In the general election yesterday, it wasn't about Trump but about Hillary and how horrible of a candidate that she was. As I said to a few people yesterday, I am not elated about Trump being the president. I am ecstatic about Hillary not being the president.

With that said, you are stretching the truth quite a bit. I guess that is not uncommon in political commentary. Trump did not disrespect Muslims. He said that he would suspend immigration from Muslim countries until a system was in place for them to be vetted. Trump has no issue with Hispanics but has a huge problem with illegal aliens and has said so emphatically. Unfortunately for Hillary and the Democrats, so does a majority of Americans. That is no disrespect for a culture but for a criminal act.

I must have missed the part where he confessed to a sexual assault.

You say he used a "loophole". Yeah, so do I every year when I pay my taxes. I use every loophole that the law allows. I can only assume by your comments that you merely pay all taxes possible and never even take the standard deduction. I commend you for paying 100% of your taxes without claiming any deductions. After all, we don't like people that take all deductions allowed by law do we?  Talk about hypocritical.......

Does he relate to the working class? I doubt it but I know that he hires many of them. What about the Clintons who claimed to be broken by legal fees and such when Bill left office only to be multi-millionaires now. I wonder how they related to the working class?

Sorry but your arguments hold no water to at least half of this country and I suspect that had he had a (D) in front of his name, the other half would be all for it. I can remember a sitting president named Clinton that seduced a young intern into a sex act in his office while his wife was in the bedroom and most of the Dems at the time said it was merely between he and his wife. His sexual transgressions should not matter nor his lying under oath when question in a deposition or his lying to the American people about it.

You see your complaints aren't about the actions but who is making them.

And if Hillary wasn't so crooked, and Obama had been a better potus, the Dems would have won.  As far as the taxes and billion dollar loss, do you know whose law allowed that to happen?

Answer: Bill Clinton

Sad day for people like me. Maybe not to the same extent but I can understand what some of the people of Alabama felt like when George Wallace got elected. It just goes to show anti-Semitism, exclusionism and overt racism still has its place in today's society. We literally have a president elect that was sued and had to settle a housing discrimination suit and whose dad, Fred Trump, was arrested at a KKK rally protesting the immigration of Jews into the country. The state of New York had to settle with the Central Park 5 for over $40million for a wrongful conviction, yet Trump pushed that rhetoric much like he tried to delegitimize Obama's presidency by saying he wasn't an American citizen until a few months ago.

Mitt Romney shot himself in the foot when he said a certain percentage of American don't pay taxes, lots of republicans agree with that. Now you have a guy admitting that he hasn't paid income tax in two decades and he's seen as "smart". The same people that believe he'll bring back don't realize how many people he put out of work by filing bankruptcy 6 different times, stiffing small business owners as well as other creditors along the way. Not to mention he still owes around $650million to foreign banks like the state owned Bank of China. What people will also realize is that republican aren't beholden to the middle class and that trickle-down economics favored by the right doesn't work. The people that run companies, especially ones that are publicly traded, main objective is to get maximum return on the dollar for their investors. If a company has the option of hiring 5k people to support their human resources and payroll at US wage rates or the option of hiring 5k people in India or Argentina at their rates, you kiss those jobs goodbye like many large corporations have. All the multibillion dollar fabrication jobs that can be performed cheaper in Mexico and Korea are still going be performed in Mexico and Korea because as an owner of a company that's smart business.

I honestly think people are suckers if you believe even with a conservative supreme court that republicans will repeal Obamacare and take 20+million people off of health insurance, lock Hillary Clinton up, build a wall and have Mexico pay for it, ban Muslims from entering the country or put together a deportation force. At the end of the day he won't fulfill any of the promises that made the faction of his supports so fervent, just like every other politician he railed against.

Well, I know many of you are happy, many guardedly optimistic, and some just relieved.  Whatever the case, for those voting Trump, congrats.  Most expected a historic election and we got one.  I don't think the prognosticators have ever gotten it so wrong.  BSWildcats and I enjoyed watching some basketball last night and saw some early returns.  We both spoke about how Trump might have a chance if there were a lot of people out there who were voting for him but not admitting to it.  The old Reagan "silent majority."

I will say that while I was by no means a Trump supporter, I am now truly pulling for him.  No matter who our President is, he represents us all and we should all hope for the best.  And while I was quite surprised last night, I hope I am pleasantly surprised during his term in office.

The real kicker here IS who the dems put up against him and still lost. Very telling Indeed.
