Alpha Wolf Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 I totally agree with Dave Hofferth on both of his suggestions, especially the 2nd one. But we all know it's about money and keeping one particular school up... Attendance numbers... SFA85 Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 That's a short term solution. A longer term solution is to let kids that attend Price/Fehl to attend Odem....... Quote
BMTSoulja1 Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 Only one thing... the official numbers that Ozen had and sent to uil before last realignment were indeed 5a numbers, although they gave the local media 4a numbers. Ilbut I do agree about a couple of things... Ozen will turn in 4a numbers in next realighnment Ozen basketball and track and field isn't affected at all do to them being so small. Rezonning sounds good and dandy, and would benifit Ozen but: The people in the west end would be in an uproar for various reason (another thread, another day) People will try to beat the system or no e their kids to H-J, H-F, or Lumberton, causing there not to be 3 5a schools, but 2 5a schools and a 4a school. The majority of beaumont's kids reside in the west end. They'll be a brief culture clash. West lenders interacting with North end and south end kids, vice versa, vice versa.. It'll be a complete mess, well, at least untill the smoke clears. Quote
The Icon Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 From an outsider that doesn't know the ins and outs of Beaumont: 1) Where would the lines be drawn? 2) What would be the result? 3) How would demographics change or shift? 4) Why is it assumed there would be an uproar or backlash? By no means am I trying to stir things up, just curious. If my questions are misconstrued as inflammatory, a moderator is more than welcome to remove them. Quote

Don't see any problems with any of those questions as all of those are gonna have to be answered by BISD if they ever move toward such a plan. BMTSoulja1 1 Quote
SFA85 Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 More solutions...... Take a marker and draw a line from Pine Island Bayou to the BISD/HFISD line(North-South) everybody west of that goes to the Brook Take above marker starting from I-10 and drawn a line to the Neches.(East-West) everyone north of that line goes to Central, south to Ozen Quit worrying about the West End as far as attendance....(and what they think) Quit with the magnet school programs in the name of intergration. Doesn't work Ozen can stay up 5A and compete in foosball as long as there is stability at the HC Also, stop letting kids who are passing that test, transfer to WB....... Quote
