Wish he would of kept J.Traylor..he was a hell of a recruiter, but I figured he wouldn't with bringing Mickens in and them coaching the same position

Brewster I believe will coach TEs

Meekens RBs

I'm also hearing Applewhite is not out of the picture.  If he doesn't get the UH job, I would expect him to be back in Austin.  Also would have liked to have seen Traylor retained but Brewster may be the best recruiter we've ever had as an assistant.

My how the standards have changed on the 40 acres. Excited about a coach who has lost to Navy, SMU, and Memphis in the same season. DKR must be rollin' in his grave, really! I wish him all the best though, seems like a good dude and all. He will fit right in with the whole austin being weird crowd with how he licks on his players before every game. Seems like a stand up dude too, telling his players at Cougar High that he would never leave them and how much he loved them all year, and then leveraging tu with threats to go to LSU on T-Giving night to speed up the process. Seems like his priorities are straight. I honestly thought Charlie deserved one more year, but the "good ole boy" network that runs tu made sure Charlie never had a chance from day one. Hopefully, he breaks the chain of "crash and burn coaches" from Cougar High.

Wasn't Sumlin a cougar high coach? How quickly we forget the Francionne and Sherman years. Seems some other team had trouble landing a coach, but that was ok? Funny how all the ags are so concerned with a team that they had the greatest rivalry game in college football againse, AND THEY LEFT...after losing to CASE MCCOY.

Im intrigued by the Jim Leavitt...Definetly has been around some good defensive minds..As well as Rhodes

also im hearing Applewhite could still be brought in as the case will close in two weeks

Leavitt would be good coming from the Spreads in the PAC 12 as well as balance offenses....

I hear Applewhite probably won't return to Texas because he had an affair with a female team trainer on a road trip.  That incident set of some messy legal actions, etc.

That was apparently a source of the negotiations.  I hear the opposite.  If Herman chooses, he is free to bring him back.

If you step back and look at the big picture, the ncaa is messed up. if a  player makes a few dollars selling autographs it's a big scandal.  Or if a coach pulls out his credit card and buys one of his players plane tickets to fly home and see their parents it is a scandal. Names are vilified, reputations are tarnished.  Programs are sanctioned.  IF a player tries to transfer he loses time.  But, a coach is free to jump around from one million dollar contract to another, with no regard for the current contract with their team.  Something is jacked up about that.

My suggestion is don't commit to the coach, commit to the university.

Guys... just a PSA for those unaware.

If you ever decide to head over to the shag, be careful what you say there, especially if you're new. One of our posters here found that out the hard way last night! Lulz

Any hints on the screen name?

It's called a job (Coach) vs and education to later get a job (player). Nothing messed up about that.

On the otherside of this argument:

Scholarship Player doesn't produce on field. Scholarship Player sits bench. Scholarship player still gets education.

Coach doesn't produce on field. Coach loses job.

Therefore just like you and me Coach is always free to look for another job.

Scholarships are issued on a year to year basis.  Player isn't good, coach can cut him and pull his scholarship.  You don't see that happen very often, because it looks bad and would hurt future recruiting, but it is possible.  Most coaches just make things miserable for the kid until they transfer.

That is what happened to your QBs!
