Indians hand 5A Brazoswood 2nd loss...

PN-G (3-2)  12

Brazoswood (6-2)  9  F

WP-E. Harrington

SV-Dominguez

Indians were dominating after 4 innings up 10-3 then the wheels fell off. A couple of errors led to an extended inning where the Bucs put a 6 spot on the board thanks in part to back to back homers off Eric Harrington. PN-G resonded with a 2 run blast in the 5th. Wind was blowing out at the JV field leading to a lot of homers. Indians finished with 3 or 4 while I think the Bucs had 3. Next up for the Indians the Barbe Bucs.

Indians lose tough one at WB

By Dave Rogers

The Port Arthur News

BEAUMONT – With a roster including nearly as many freshmen (three) as seniors (four), Port Neches-Groves expected its predistrict games to be full of trials and tribulations as the youngsters scrambled to get ready for District 22-4A play.

No one expected what happened to the Indians Friday afternoon.

Senior Shawn Flores, who has been one of the shining lights of a hit-and-miss start to the season with his bat and his pitching, missed two fly balls in the seventh inning.

Those miscues, coming with first one, then two outs, allowed Victoria Memorial to score the tying and winning runs in a stunning 4-3 decision over the Indians in second-day play of the West Brook baseball tournament.

The PN-G center fielder lost both fly balls in the sun.

“It’s an unfortunate thing that happens,†Indian coach Jay Stone said after his team dropped to 3-4.

PN-G, which has never failed to reach the playoffs under its 10th-year coach, committed a total of five errors in the game. That after four errors in Thursday night’s 12-4 loss to Lake Charles Barbe.

“That’s why they call them predistrict games,†Stone said. “It’s kind of like the professional playing spring training. These are like our spring training games.â€

The Indians play two more today, starting with an 8 a.m. tilt with Lufkin and finishing with a 5 p.m. against the host Bruins.

The surprising ending of Friday’s game negated a strong pitching performance from junior Jon Carnahan. He struck out five batters and allowed only two hits, with the Vipers scoring single runs in the first and fourth. Only the first of the four runs charged to Carnahan was earned.

“He pitched very well today,†Stone praised. “He pitched good enough to win.â€

The Indians tied the game 1-1 in the third inning when Jeremy Dominguez scored on a sacrifice fly. Dominguez doubled in the fifth and Kane Benoit singled him home to tie the game 2-2.

Benoit had two of PN-G’s five hits in the game.

The Indians took their only lead of the game, 3-2, when Payton Faseler reached on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the sixth and worked his way around to score on Carnahan’s sac fly.

The Indians had both Brett Doty and Jeremy Dominguez on base in the bottom of the seventh when the game ended on back-to-back strikeouts.

    • noticed that 99.99% of law enforcement sides with Trump? The part of the judicial system who disagrees with Trump is the prosecutors and judges….and it’s certainly not all of them either. Good thing he has the judges that really count on his side.
    • What news station do you watch?…..never mind.    What age are the children you take care of. Refugees from where? Are they in a hospital? Now children compared to criminals…..geeeez. The mayor of Denver and a few governors, including Newsom, have said they will not turn over incarcerated criminals to ICE. This is a felony. They are harboring criminals and fugitives. Gee, I’m so glad you want criminals protected. Anyone who crossed illegally into our country is a criminal. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
    • Sorry sir on my miss count. I was in hurry
    • Are they offering refuge to criminals? Or is it a Trump talking point? Refugees are people who leave their country due to unwarranted prosecution. I actually take care of 2 refugee kids who have complex medical needs   No, refugees are not criminals, and the assumption that they are more likely to be criminals than the general population is incorrect:                                                                                          Research shows immigrants commit crimes at lower rates Immigrants in the United States commit crimes at lower rates than the U.S.-born population, including unauthorized immigrants. This is true across immigrant groups.                  Immigration doesn't raise crime rates Immigrants don't raise crime rates in the communities where they settle. In fact, some studies suggest that immigration can lower crime rates, especially violent crime.                  Anti-immigration politicians have spread a myth Anti-immigration politicians have repeatedly tried to link immigrants to crime, but research shows this is a myth.                  Refugees don't cause crime in Turkey A study found that refugees don't have a causal effect on crime rates in Turkey. In fact, the study found that refugees may have a negative effect on crime rates per capita.
