Now that the hardware is in the trophy case, and the mission in 2016 is completed, let the debate begin.  Is this the best team WO-S has ever put on the field?  1986, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2016?  Perhaps I am forgetting a team worthy of consideration?  I love me some 1980s football with Kevin Smith and his teammates, but it is difficult, very difficult, to look past the 2016 WO-S Mustangs.  I have a slight lean towards the 2016 team.  Others?  Thoughts?  Let's discuss.

Congratulations to WO-S.

Go Indians.  Peace.

1987 team was #3 in the nation I believe

My vote is for the 2016 Mustangs defenses equal but it's the offense that makes the 2016 team better I think

I asked Kimbrough this question earlier this week.  He has called many of their games for several years, and was one of the top football umpires in this area for many, many years, including during those late 80s years.  In his opinion, this is the best team he's seen in SETX.   He said it's the most complete team (offense, defense, special teams).  Couldn't really argue with him.

This may be blasphemy to some, but my vote is for the 2016 Mustangs being the best to lace 'em up at WO-S.

First 16-0 team in school history and outscoring opponents 762-69 (59 offensive pts) is insane. That has to be one of the highest scoring differentials ever?

It's impossible to compare eras, but this defense just faced two wildly different offenses in Navarro and Sweetwater, both averaging over 45 ppg and held them both to one collective offensive touchdown.

Don't want to forget about some of WO-S better teams who just ended up running into programs having "all-time" type seasons: 1985, 1995, 1997, 2005, 2012 teams probably deserve mention as well.

My dad used to say that what made the 80s teams so dangerous was that they could win games with offense, defense or special teams...well, this team could score on any play from anywhere on the field in every phase of the game.

The biggest differential I remember is 2013 aledo 1023-147
