According to several news reports, former Lamar University football head coach Ray Woodard has applied for the vacant Beaumont ISD Athletic Director position. The position is open after BISD reassigned Rodney Saveat.

Thoughts on this potential hire

Well, based off of what you said on the other thread, there will be at least 1 BISD coach opening...

That's what I am hearing. But Woodard will only apply for AD position. That's a fact.

If Coach Woodard were seeking a coaching job, I doubt it would be at the high school level.

But despite my earlier off the cuff comment, the BISD AD job probably makes some bit of sense to him.  I saw that his wife had a recent health scare and while that turned out well, I could see him him opting for a job which could have him at home more.

Also, it doesn't really hurt that the guy who hired him at LU sits on the Board of Managers.

I'm not sure about this, although I'm sure he'd do a better job than the old man that was the previous AD.  Maybe it's because I'm a little bitter because it's blatantly obvious that Lamar goes out of their way to disassociate themselves with BISD and do not reach out and build rapports with many BISD athletes.  Many local colleges have close relationships with that particular city's school district..
