The head Ref for the National Championship game is from Groves, Texas. Great guy and very good Ref. Glad to see him moving up. Might see him in the NFL some day.

Mike Defee grew up in Nederland, graduated in my wife's class of 1980.

Yea, I know. But he moved to Groves when he got married and his kids graduated from PNG.

This has nothing to do with the BIG 12 or the SEC. it is about a hometown guy doing well for himself. If you are going to start trying to make this a big deal about that then don't  comment.

It was announced that big 12 refs would call the game as soon as the playoff teams were revealed.  He's the top Big 12 ref so it's been known for a month that he would call this game.
