For some I guess. Based on viewership, baseball gets about half the eyeballs as basketball. But it is still nudging out hockey in this country so I guess that's something

TxHoops
Most of the network types would take the opposite. At least those concerned with ratings But to each his own. It is our national pastime and I always enjoyed playing it. For me, watching it is slightly preferable to watching paint dry unless I have a specific interest in the game. But lots of good teams in the area and wish them all a healthy and successful season!

In baseball, Each move is initiated by the same person on one side and a move by the opponent is required before said person can initiate another move. Basketball has no such requirements. Can be anyone of five to initiate move. The only stretch would be to say basketball was even close to being checkers. How's that...?

I guess some people need a game slow enough that they can keep up...how's that? but I do like your chess analogy...nicely done. (Although I guess the same would be applied to checkers...)
