I have a vote in the WRS awards. I have said all along I would be transparent with my vote.

These are my finalists:

Joel Denley West Brook
Roschon Johnson PN-G
Cayce Draper Bridge City

Defense

Morris Joseph WO-S
Logan Lejune PN-G
Kary Vincent PA Memorial
Reggie Boseman Beaumont Central

I would have thought Bruce Newton would have made the cut. Those other 4 are no slouches though.

No defensive player for Silsbee was nominated to be voted on.

Calvin Tyler and Kary Vincent should win. IMO

Yep and yep.   Tyler is a gimme and Vincent was easily the best defensive player at his position this year.

And kudos to AAW for the Draper vote.  That kid was one of the most impressive players I saw this year.

Coach has to nominate

That's what I figured. So either the Coach feels no one was worthy or just didn't do it.... i would at least at first think a Coach would nominate his best players on each side at the same time...but if he didn't feel he had a standout on one side......

You already know who I am partial to in this award but at the end of the day, I think that I want my brother to win the award more than he does. The award is great yes, but those college offers are so much better. Congrats to all kids involved. Oh and btw if Roschon doesn't win, give it to Tyler.

I have very mixed feelings about this season. Having two of our INdians as finalist is an honor, I think Roschon will have more chances to win if not this year. My two candidates other than the INdian on offense is Jack Dallas and Calvin Tyler both amazing seasons.

Congratulations to all finalist.  A true honor, named after a great football coach.  Coach Smith and Coach Ozen had some major battles on the field, but both sent many Beaumont kids to the NFL.
