I thought it was the coach.  well, both coaches have to agree to play the game.  I heard that Lee didn't want to play. it Seaveat did want to play, so it was some coin flips....

But if the AD made that decision back then, it wouldn't have surprised me one but....

They didn't play last year with the same coaches.   But my understanding is they both agreed which side of the bracket they wanted to be on based on the FB teams.  Then it seems like the FB teams pulled a switcheroo.  Could be wrong but I remember hearing something along those lines.

Yes all games can possibly be scouted, but the varsity staff can't come scout you on Tuesday or Friday when they also have games. Seeing a team in person yourself before a game is a way bigger advantage than having a middle school coach or some other scout go watch a team for you. If this game was played tonight you would have all 3 teams ( head and assistant) Ozen and Central are playing in the first and possible second round there to watch guaranteed. A head and assistant coach from all three schools who would not see that game at all first hand under any other possible scenario.

I have seen scouts from other schools come out to see other schools in 5-A BEFORE playoffs started.
