prepballfan Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 Very suspicious how the whole thing was handled... I believe PNG had around 80-90
Knoddy1 Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 To my knowledge there has never been a football coach at Nederland that wasn't the AD and that is usually the case with the great majority of High schools in Texas, but the Nederland school board needs to think long and hard before they make their decision. I have learned there are two things that can disrupt winning football programs one is school boards and the other is Jerry Jones.

I know when we hired Crouch 8 or so years ago we had more applicants then that and we were a 0 and 10 ball club The coaching circle is tight, and word travels quickly... Interested coaches ask other coaches on the staff and throughout the area. Believe this, they have stayed away for a reason.... Proud Dawg, Tiger33 and Brubaker 3

1989NDN Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 If NISD screws up the coaching hire, which I don't think they will, but if they do and Coach Barrow and Coach D. Spell no longer want to remain at Nederland, then they can walk right over the railroad tracks and apply at PN-G to be assistant coaches on the staff of Coach Faircloth. My beloved Indians can find a place on The Reservation for two more excellent coaches and high quality men, e.g., Barrow and Spell. I'm not suggesting that PN-G get rid of any coaches on its staff. I'm suggesting that PN-G enlarge its coaching staff and add two more excellent coaches who know how to contribute to winning programs. Delbert Spell has forgotten more defensive strategies than most Texas high school coaches claim to know. He has seen it all. If NISD wants to be a basketball school, then no worries. No need to leave the area. Coaches Barrow and Spell can join the best place to be, The Reservation. Once and Indian, Always and Indian. There is precedent. I can remember back in the nineties when Coach DeRouen left Nederland, he coached at PN-G for one or two years. I don't know Coach DeRouen, but I'm guessing it was the best years of his life (ha-ha). Former Bulldog Bruce Bush coached at PN-G under Doug Ethridge, won a state title, and had 40+ years as a top-notch Texas HS football coach and AD. I'm betting NISD hires Coach Barrow and he persuades Coach Spell to hang on for a few years (putting off retirement) so they can keep the Bulldog program moving forward. If not, then...give Coach Faircloth a call and ask to join the great staff at PN-G. Go Indians. Peace.
AHUDDLESTON Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 Most coaches did not apply out of respect for Monte and thinking that he should, or would, get the job. Notice no other coaches on Football staff applied. outanup 1

Notice no other coaches on Football staff applied. Because most coaches are head coaches in other sports and D Spell knows he will be gone in the next few years due to retirement. You don't see everyday a o line coach a D.C. and a O.C. all apply at the school to take over as head coach and a O Line coach gets it over the other two.
Knoddy1 Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 You're right Coach De Rouen did go to PNG for a season maybe two, then Larry Neumann took over at Ned and Steve came back as the Offensive Coordinator, and Monty cut his teeth for offense learning from Steve. outanup 1
NHSBulldogFan Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Chad Simmons is the underdog pick longtime Cinco Ranch Defensive Coordinator and Nederland grad. prepballfan 1
prepballfan Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 According to some source friends in that area he is supposedly a very fine coach. Hear he would be a great coach if he were to get it
navydawg31 Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Simmons D is always salty. Cinco doesn't get the premiere players because they go to Katy. But They are undersized it seems like and not the biggest or the fastest but they play great technique football and coached extremely well. Very much like a certain bulldog team I know... prepballfan and olddognewtricks 2
Brubaker Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Im not against Simmons, but I find the irony in the desire to bring him in because hes an outsider... its funny to me anyway. Especially when he working for a former Bulldog, Don Clayton. Its just funny that people don't think anyone from their home town is worth a ****, I guess like that prophet thing in his hometown from the bible. Its a mind block, mind fart, that Ill never understand. We're okay with the guys from Nederland running billion dollar facilities at these refineries, but lead the athletic program... heck no, not qualified. Like I said, the irony is freakin rich for me. *Mod Edit*- Language

Yeah just like monte had many YEARS to get a masters and failed to do so... lol if you can't handle your business then how are you going to handle a head varsity football coach....
navydawg31 Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Simmons is a Nederland grad working for a Nederland grad Clayton and his boss is lobbying hard for him and Nederland school district asked him to apply.
outanup Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Well friends change is upon us, like it or not. I will say this...If it goes down the way the posse wants it to, and the Ad job is given to anyone other then the Head Football Coach and it doesnt work out....Well.....the next coo will be served by the football fans. As we speak most arent aware of what is and has gone on behind the scenes. But let the football program fall and see how fast the worm turns. KF89 1
fox Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 did neumann every come out and say why he retired all of a sudden or is he still out of town on vacation?

Im sorry, but what in the heavenly hosts does a Masters have to do with running an athletic Dept. Im sorry, but that doesnt compute with me. You either have real life experience organizing and managing a large group of people or you dont. Masters Schmasters. outanup 1
Brubaker Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 And the Superintendent didnt require it.... for good reason. Maybe she can use it for justification to keep the salary down and save the district money, but obviously didnt think in good conscience that it was required.
olddognewtricks Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Monte is the go to guy for HC but The Cinco Ranch guy isn't just a chump. I mean he's lead some salty defenses in a extremely 6A district with a powerhouse like Katy to play every year. Go to max preps and look at the his defensive averages against state champions those years too. He's no chump. 2016 - 11-4 2015 - 9-2 2014 - 9-3 2013 - 9-3 Do I think Monte deserves the head coaching job yes I do but why doesn't English deserve the AD job. Matt Burnett I believe is the AD at PNG or maybe that changed. Who cares about the AD title. Let's get the Dogs a coach so they can start building towards a 2017 season of success. Instead I bet tensions are high in the coaches office and those boys can sense the instability of their program. I believe the school board needs to make a decision. School board needs to grow a pair and nederland voters need to force them to get a new school bond going for new schools, stadium, and etc. pretty sad that Nederland is considered one of the poorest school districts in the area. I'm off my soap box. I'm ready for a decision and quit dragging it out. Cinco ranch guy or Monte are both highly qualified for the job. Monte just has paid his dues at nederland compared to another school.
