no-look
Anyone remember the last time they were at the tourney? They were up three points with less than ten seconds to go. Grapeland player steals the ball and goes in for a windmill dunk. It bounces hard off the back of the rim. A Wellington player scoops it up and heavs a half court shot and kisses it off the glass and ties it. Grapeland loses in OT. If he would have just laid it in they win by five. I really felt badly for the players and coaches. About a week ago and bullets13

I really felt badly for the players and coaches. Or he simply could have dribbled out the clock and not even attempt a lay up. Remember it well. oldschool2
I bet the coach wishes he could go back in time and start screaming TIME OUT when the kid went in for the dunk...so he could put that DA on the bench. smh
bullets13
I did find a news article about the game and read about it. it described the missed dunk that would've put them up 5, but the article said he made the 3 to tie it with 27 seconds left. what am I missing here? bullets13
Wellington 64 Grapeland 61 OT AUSTIN - George Shrubs scored 18 points, including a 3-pointer in the final minute to send the game into overtime, as Wellington outlasted Grapeland 64-61 Friday in the Class 2A semifinals of the boys' state high school basketball tournament. Wellington (29-5) advances to Saturday's final to play Peaster (27-7), a 74-61 winner over Brookshire Royal in Friday's other semifinal. Shrubs' 3-pointer with 25.6 seconds left tied the game at 57-57. Wellington then used a 4-0 spurt on baskets by Larry Valles and Jason Wischkaemper to go up 61-57. Tarlus McDaniel scored to pull Grapeland within 61-59 before another Shrubs' basket pushed the lead back to four. Wellington could have iced the game from the foul line but went 0 for 5 from the line in the final minute of overtime before Nakia Nash made one for the final margin with 6.2 seconds left. Kenneth Barrett, who had 21 points, had a final chance to tie for Grapeland but his 3-pointer bounced off the side of the rim as the buzzer sounded. Grapeland (28-9) had its chances to win the game in the final minute of regulation. Trying to run out the clock with a 57-54 lead, Barrett was stripped by Valles at midcourt, who then missed his layup. Grapeland quickly threw the ball back down court to Tarlus McDaniel who was open under the basket. But McDaniel, who scored a game-high 23 points, missed the dunk, setting up Shrubs' game-tying 3-pointer. Wischkaemper scored 17 points and Nash 10 for Wellington. Kendrick Barrett scored 10 and had 13 rebounds for Grapeland. Nash and Valles, both 5-foot-9 guards, combined for 19 rebounds and 11 steals. Fergton
1st part is talking about the overtime period. The last part of the article is talking about the end of regulation

The last part of the article is talking about the end of regulation its a poorly written article, but it looks like they refer to his 3-pointer in two different places. one when they talk about it with 25 seconds left, and another later in the article when "grapeland had their chances to win in regulation, nursing a 3-point lead". anyway, who the heck knows.
