The Barbers Hill track teams turned in a repeat performance from 2006 by capturing the boys and girls titles in the Barbers Hill Relays last weekend. In the girls division, the Lady Eagles cruised to the title with 157 points easily outdistancing runner-up C.E. King who compiled 103 points. Crosby finished fourth with 60 points. The Eagles finished first with 148 points narrowly holding off second place Angleton who had 143 points. Crosby was fourth with 77 points.

Latasha Carrington turned in a strong showing in the field events taking first in the shot put with a throw of 37’3 and placing second in the discus. Tawonia Petri of Crosby was second in the shot put and Kaitlyn King of Barbers Hill was sixth. Macy Malechek of BH also placed sixth in the discus.

Crosby took the top two places in the triple jump, as Brionka Baptiste was first with a mark of 35’0. 5. Macy Bush was second. Erica Williams took fourth for the Lady Eagles and Keely Rivera was sixth. Rhodes was third in the pole vault.

In the 3200-meter run, Barbers Hill took second through fourth. Samantha Rhodes was second and Stephanie Brown and Jewel Watson finished third and fourth. Heather Dean was second in the 800-meter run with Catherine Reuter taking fourth and Shannon Mudd taking sixth. In the 4x100 meter relay the BH team of Gourlay, Williams, Dessel and Burleson finished third and the Crosby team of Johnson, Freeman, McAllister and White finished fourth. Hillary Poole took third in the 100-meter hurdles for the Hill and Baptiste finished fourth for Crosby.

Courtney Dessel and Brooke Burleson took second and third for Barbers Hill in the 100-meter dash. In the 200-meter dash Erica Williams and Ashley Gourlay took third and fifth for the Lady Eagles and the Lady Cougars’ Guillory finished fourth. Macy Bush was third in the 400-meter dash and Megan Burton was sixth.

Hillary Poole was third for BH in the 300-meter low hurdles and Macy Moore was fourth. In the 1600-meter run, Catherine Reuter took first with a time of 5:40.29 and Samantha Rhodes was third. Jewel Watson took fifth in the event for the Barbers Hill JV.

The Barbers Hill 4x200 relay team of Gourlay, Williams, Dessel and Burleson finished third and Crosby’s team of Johnson, McAllister, Freeman and Guillory took fourth. The BH 4x400 team of McCoy, Moore, Berton and Poole was second and the Crosby team of Freeman, Baptiste, Bush and Siggers was fifth.

Both Barbers Hill and Crosby boys had strong showings in the field events. In the shot put, the Eagles’ Chris Johnson placed second with Chris Carrier taking third and Little finishing sixth. In the discus, Little was third and Cameron Swart was fifth. Crosby’s Matt Guillory was fifth in the long jump and Gregg Williams was third in the triple jump with Alvin Baptiste taking fifth.

Williams also took second in the high jump and Chance Casey was third. Yogi Ybarra was third in the pole vault and Tyler Coon was fourth.

Jess Williams of the Hill won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:31.48. Tim Ramsey was fourth. Aaron Malek won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.99 and Austin Malek was second. Cory Weatherly of Crosby was fifth. Chance Casey won the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.72, as Blake Collins was fourth.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the Barbers Hill team of Michael Davis, Jared Smith and Blake and Todd Patton was third and the Crosby team of Toris Doze, Caleb Randolph, Gregg Williams and Humphrey was fifth. Jared Smith was fourth in the 100-meter dash and Tyler Joseph was sixth.

In the 200-meter dash, Todd Patton took first with a time of 22.25. Michael Davis and Carter Smith finished fourth and sixth for the Hill and Crosby’s Randolph was fifth. Blake Patton was second in the 400-meter dash and Williams was fifth for CHS.

Chance Casey swept the hurdles events winning the 300-meter high hurdles with a time of 39.79. Thomas Labian was third and Barbers Hill’s Kyle Brown was fourth. Jess Williams also won the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:51.61 and Tim Ramsey was fifth.

In the 4x200 meter relay, Davis, Joe Sexton, Jared Smith and Carter Smith were fourth. In the 4x400 meter relay the Maleks and Pattons took first with a time of 3:24.27. Crosby’s Williams, Baptiste, Randolph and Casey took third.
