What your definition of "the future"? You didn't even mention "the future". If you look, you will see the title of this thread is 2017 Houston Texans. Lets face it. ESPN and social media has absolutely FLIPPED over Watson, before he even took a snap. He wins the popularity contest in a landslide over Tom Savage. I see all the over-the-top glowing articles about Watson's 60% completion rate, while the 82% completion rate of Tom Savage is completely ignored. I don't know whenever he will be ready. It may be week 1 this year, it may be week 15 next year. Tom Savage is being completely ignored because he is essentially a band aid that they can rely on because he has been in the system for a few years and the coaches trust him til Watson is ready. The reason I personally mentioned Watson and not Savage is because even though Savage played well, everyone in the fan base knows that Savage isn't the franchise quarterback that Houston has needed to get to the next level. Maybe I'm looking ahead or maybe I'm completely wrong, but for my money, Watson has all the stuff you can't coach and that's what separates the 2. Quote

The "band aid" had over 80% completion rate, and was ignored. Had Watson had gone 9 for 11, he would be supplanting Tom Brady for the GOAT in the medias eyes. I fell bad for Savage, He wont be give credit no matter what he does. Watson is already the Texan SuperStar without ever having to earn anything. Thas how popularity contests work. . . Quote

Reader can be a beast in the middle if he will focus! Tom Savage pssses were accurate. Watson has wheels but is still learning the offense. Patriots looked well oiled. Left a bit early and had a good ( but expensive ) lunch. The Greenbriar gave all fans a voucher for a $5 "free spin" in their casino. I won 50 bucks, LOL. Quote

(63 on a short pass to a RB who broke away) 69.6 QBR. Savage has now QB'ed five drives. He is 17-of-20 for 167 yards, 1 TD. Media + most fans = TOTAL SILENCE. Quote

If I were a fan, I would worry more about that. I told a co-worker/Texans fan that the Jags are the team to beat in their division this year. He said Bortles was a bum. I said the Jags defense was going to be good. Hard to be exact after only one game. Quote

And, O'Brien dang sure is not an offensive coordinator. I did not watch the 2nd half, but I was wondering how many more drops did Hopkins have in the half? Quote

Sadly, I didn't see much to be excited about as a fan but it is early in the season, hopefully they can get Duane Brown back to help the o-line, and hopefully they can get healthy. I do think the hangover from the storm and all the stress that came with it played a part in their struggles, but I am a no excuses type person so they just need to be better or it could be a long season. I am excited to see what Watson can do as a starter if he does start on Thursday, but I also think it is unfair to place all of the blame on Savage for his struggles. The guy had no help from the line, the running game was stagnant, and the recieving corps is depleted due to injury. Hate to say it but if I have to make a prediction based on the game, the texans looked like a 4-12 or 5-11 caliber team at best. Quote

That is even worse than what David Carr went through in the Texans first year. Savage had zero chance to do anything. The whole team stunk to high heaven. Lots of people blaming the coach today. Personally, I think Rick Smith is the root of all the Texans problems. If you saw the body language of Smith and B. OB on draft day, you could see this franchise had problems lying ahead. Quote
