WOSgrad
From Matt Steppe's tweets, it appears that De Soto is trying to pull a Jasper on its state championship winning coach, Todd Peterman. A board meeting is currently underway.

Watching the meeting now...they haven't gotten to that point yet.
dBerrySports
Unless there is some underlying reason that the public doesn't know about, this is an absolutely ridiculous move on the surface.

The reason being bandied about has NOTHING to do with job performance. It is alleged by some in the community that some of the board members no longer want a white head coach for the predominately black De Soto High. WOSgrad
They are about to move to executive session. The board president just stated that it will probably be "lengthy."

If they do not announce any action, that equals no renewal and a hot time in the DFDub tonight.
WOSgrad
From what I have been able to gather, the views of those members of the school board (if they vote that way) that want him out do not reflect the community.

Sounds like some board members have been throwing spaghetti on the wall to see if it will stick. Feels like they may not get the results they hoped for. Guest
What is the reasoning of the school board not renewing his contract? Is it just because he is white? What will there answer be on why? They might want to rethink this decision because if the wrong thing is said on why he will own that school. This has major lawsuit written all over it. I wonder how many lawyers have contacted him already on wanting to represent him?

Central has probably the same demographic breakdown as DeSoto and I have 2 boys in the Jaguar program. I wouldn't care what color a coach was at Central if he puts a winning program on the field, kids in college and caps it off by winning a state championship... studd88, j_dog, Tigers2010 and 2 others

Chester86
Even if they decide to keep him, why would you want to be somewhere you're not wanted and supported by those you work for? RETIREDFAN1

dBerrySports
The players may be happy, but if you're Peterman, you will always have the thought that these board members want you out in the back of your head. Doesn't seem like they'll be on his side if any important things come up. Chester86 and RETIREDFAN1
AHUDDLESTON
either 3 or 4 of the members are up for re-election THIS year.

Apparently it is 3 up for re-election and according to a reporter from DMN, 2 of those are Peterman supporters and are not favored to keep their seats.. If that is the case, we might just have the reason that no action was taken THIS month.

Anyone who wants to win a state championship would take the job. they would just think that it would never happen to them because that new board would have hired him.
