hsforlife89 Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Does anyone know any former SETX athletes (any sport) that are still dealing with injuries after high school or possibly had to quit in HS/College because of pre-existing injuries? Quote
DHSPiratesBaseball Posted May 18, 2017 Report Posted May 18, 2017 I injured my knee in a basketball game in highschool really bad but I kept on playing on it because I loved the sport, played on it during baseball as well. This was 4 years ago. It hasn't stopped hurting in these past 4 years. It has made it hard to walk, run, do anything active. I finally went to the doctor last month and found out I have a torn meniscus and a torn ACL. Quote
Bronco94 Posted May 18, 2017 Report Posted May 18, 2017 Jakari Delasbour from Dayton. After a horse collar tackle from a Crosby Safety, suffered compound fracture in his lower leg and 7 or 8 years later still gets around with a limp. When the unsportsmanlike tackle occurred it was the first quarter and Delasbour already had 9 carries for 61 yards. Quote
Bill Dauterive Posted May 18, 2017 Report Posted May 18, 2017 Let's not forget Al Bundy. The glory moment in Al Bundy's life: scoring four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon. Years later he still limps from injuries of that game, but still manages to drag himself to Gary's Shoes each day and be the best Women's shoe sales man in history. And he does it all without whining. Be like Al. Don't whine about old injuries. AthleticSupporter - Jock 1 Quote
Guest ECBucFan Posted May 18, 2017 Report Posted May 18, 2017 Remember, Al's (and SpareTires) old sports injuries were reaggravated when Al and SpareTire faced off once again years later in the foyer of 'ole Poke high in front of the trophy case. As thy both lay on the floor writhing in pain, Al wailed "I'm hurt REEEEEEAL BAD!" SpareTire Dixon concurred! Al always takes solace, though, in his Polk athletic career. More than once he proudly exclaimed: "I served my country! I played High School football!" . Quote
Kegger Posted May 18, 2017 Report Posted May 18, 2017 The best way to avoid getting injured is to specialize in your own sport because everyone knows you can't get hurt just playing your sport year round. (Sarcasm) Quote
