No. If Trump was able to defeat the anti-Christ, he would have beaten McCain also. McCain has been a huge disappointment for me. He does seem to be a left leaner.

McCain is a RINO!!

I agree that McCain is a RINO, but not near far enough left to win as a Democrat. The few real Democrats left would have probably voted for him, but the Democrat party has been taken over by looney Liberals. Even Hillary had to adjust her values to fit with the loons. Bill Clinton would have had to severely change his stances to win the Democrat vote today, and he's the old hero of the once proud party. Now the Democrats fully embrace the likes of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. To be successful in the Liberal party today you have to be totally and actively against any traditional American values, demonize any non-minority, and be willing to utilize any method, including illegal acts, of suppressing those espousing ideas that don't conform to the socialistic agenda. So no, I don't think McCain would have won.

Hillary is not the antichrist.  As much as you hate her, she is not.  Neither is Obama.  Neither is Trump.

There's your answer, straight from the bible.

How would you describe the Socialist and hateful views/values that have become the zenith of the Liberal platform? My word is "looney". I know that is probably not a strong enough word, and would love to hear what descriptive word(s) you would use.

What contentions are you trying to make about the Republican party? What views/values do you think have changed with the Republicans that make you think some faction has taken over the party?

Trump is not a view or a value. What views/values do you think have changed with the Republicans that make you think some faction has taken over the party? I don't think Trump would have won the Republican ticket 10 or more years ago, so something has changed. Trump does not espouse many of the Republican values, so it seems the Republicans have become more tolerant. The Left seems to have moved to the far (almost unseen) left, and do not tolerate non-conformists. What do you think about each party? You titled this thread "a serious question" but haven't given your views. Is this really a serious question for you or did you start it to illicit viewpoints you could then deride. If you are serious about the question you would deliver your thoughts...enabling us to shred them. :)

Good question, do you think McCain would have beat Hillary in the democratic convention? I would say no because they rigged it for Hillary to win with the superdelegate

I would guess .... maybe.

McCain would not have a lot of the conservative or GOP vote crossover but he would get some. He would likely have gotten most of the Democrat vote. The Democrats are way more loyal to the party name than actual politics in my opinion. The GOP has a lot more independent thinkers which is why they are always arguing among themselves on who is conservative "enough" whether on candidates or bills/laws. They generally agree with each other on principle but will vote no out of spite if they don't get exactly what they want. The Dems tend to vote more on party based on nothing more than party. They tend to be way more party loyal.

The vote was close enough in some states to possibly make a difference. Some of the crossover vote that Trump got from the Dems would not have swapped if it had been anyone other than Clinton. While I said above the Dems are more likely to vote by party, Hillary was bad enough of a candidate to overcome that. Let's face it, Obama and Clinton are not popular no matter what poll someone spits out. Clinton was a horrible candidate and Obama's reputation and legacy was no help.

The bottom line is that had McCain been the Democratic nominee, Trump would not have gotten nearly as much crossover or refusal to vote from the Dems and McCain would have swung some minor GOP votes. It would likely not have been more than 1/2 - 1% in some states but in this close election that may have made the difference.

Hillary was simply so horrible of a candidate, I think you might put any person's name in the, "would ______ have beaten Trump?" and probably end up in the affirmative.

Yes, that is what cost the Dems as they had no real primary. It took an independent in Sanders to even challenge the system as all of the main Democratic players had gotten their marching orders..... stay out and let the queen be crowned.

It backfired on them.

You are right. The dems greatly over estimated Hillary. She barely got by Bernie. There's probably a few other dems that could have beat her in the primaries and possibly beat Trump. They put all their eggs in one basket. McCain may have not had a shot if he flipped. There would have been a lot of bashing from both sides.

It's funny that McCain is the topic of this conversation because he is exactly what is wrong with Washington. Career politicians are the problem. I believe most run for office with good intentions, but after a while become engulfed with the power that lies in Washington. I have always strongly supported term limits. Go serve your country, then go home. McCain should have went home 25 years ago.

Please expound on your thoughts. I've asked this over and over and over, but you never comply. Why do you feel the need to throw out baseless statements then run and hide when challenged to back up these statements? Are you not totally embarrassed by your silence? You've been served! (I don't keep up with modern lingo so I have no idea if that is a relevant statement in today's vernacular, but I'm calling you out none the less.) And I'm still looking for the source of those alternate history books you keep referring to. They seem to be so obscure that even Bing and Google have never heard of them...and that is saying something.
