bobcatfan Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 No Kristy Sanders?? Apparently no one from TCGA went to the regional tournament. Ok this tcga does a girls poll, and they had Orangefield ranked 20th for a month or so, and had 1A Lovelady (who lost to #1 Martins Mill by 2 in regional final) ranked 17th. This is also the same poll that had COLUMBIA ranked 3rd in 3A for a long time and look how bad Orangefield beat them. I guess what i'm trying to say is that TCGA has no credibility in my opinion like TABC, their poll was a joke in some ways, like the examples i gave.
bball4life Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 I totally agree Bobcatfan! To have an honors team like that and have no Dee Kellum, Ang Green, or Kristy Sanders is nuts! I also agree with your comments about their poll too. Maybe the TABC teams will be more representative of our area. When does it come out?
Cat22 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 TABC should be out any day now. I check their site often. As soon as they post anything I'll put up a link here.
bball4life Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 My reply about the TABC poll was what I was saying thanks for...but I also want to congratulate Miss Little.
Cat22 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 I would take Kellum, Green or Sanders over the girl from Columbia any day!!
Cat22 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Congrats to all the local girls on the TGCA All state team.
Guest bleed orange Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 First of all, congrat's to the girls who made this list. Second, Yes Kristy Sanders should have been on this list. Not because of what she did at the regional tournament but because of what she did all year long. Yes the T.A.B.C. is the more recognized organization. But to say the TGCA has "no creditibility". I would'nt go quite that far. There have been kids from Orangefield make this list the last 4 years and one of them made it 3 years in a row. Both organizations are made up of coaches. Both of these committee's have their days when it comes to polls. Also I thought there should have been some more girls from our area on this list Like Carmon, Green, Fowler and Kellum.
fanof07 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 As in any sport, many well deserving athletes don't get the public recognition they deserve. Congrats to all that received the honor. I'm looking forward to see what TABC comes out with.
stang4life Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Congrats to all. Proud of you BScott. ;DAs far as who received honors, the two teams who played for the state title only had 1 & 2 players on the list.
Guest bleed orange Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I think people have a missconception of TGCA and TABC. Both are organizations that coaches have to join. Just like some websites. TABC is bigger because it is boys and girls. TGCA is only girls. A coach may not be a member of the TGCA therefore kids off their team may not have been nominated. For instance, Silsbee and Kirbyville. I don't know this as a fact but I do know coaches have to join both of these organizations. Somebody please let me know if I am wrong.
fanof07 Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I believe a player can be nominated by another coach who is a member even if her coach is not...
Guest bleed orange Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 That may be the case but do you know that for sure? I don't, honestly!
fanof07 Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 from tgba website on nomination rules..."Coaches of nominated players must have joined TGCA by the October 15th deadline to qualify for these state honors."
