Drain the Swamp

James Runcie, chief operating officer of the Office of Federal Student Aid, submitted his resignation at about 10:30 p.m.

Quote:

Runcie had been ordered by DeVos to testify on Thursday before the House Oversight Committee regarding the department's rising improper payment rate for federal student aid programs.

Runcie wrote that he defied DeVos' request because the chief financial officer for student aid was the agency's expert on the subject and had been prepped to speak. Runcie wrote he had "not heard a single compelling reason from Department staff regarding the need to have the Chief Operating Officer of Federal Student Aid testify on improper payments."

Quote:

Later in the day, however, a DeVos spokeswoman fired back at Runcie's assertions. "The Secretary directed Mr. Runcie to comply with the request of Congress and to answer questions regarding oversight within FSA and repeated issues concerning improper payments," spokeswoman Liz Hill said in an email. "He chose to resign rather than face Congress."

"It is disappointing Mr. Runcie would rather resign than testify before Congress. Under his leadership federal student aid systems are less secure, performance has suffered, and improper payments have increased. For years, the Inspector General and this Committee have warned the Department of Education of vulnerabilities to its $1.1 trillion federal loans program. Appointing new leadership is the first step to righting the ship. I encourage Secretary DeVos to appoint a new COO who values security and competency over politics." - Jason Chaffetz

Draining the dirty oil in a engine is great as long as you replace it with clean oil.

good words.   Then it is just a matter of whether one believes the replacement oil is clean or not.  There are some who believe that only one brand of oil is acceptable and if it is not used, the engine will not run even if the oil is clean or at worst, considerably cleaner.

Only the intelligent know that more than one clean or new oil is acceptable. The person that believes that only one oil brand is acceptable is not well educated. Although everyone does have a right to their own OPINION.

Just saw a snake with a suit on speaking on CNN. They called it Paul Ryan!

I'm surprised you don't like Paul Ryan. He wants to expand government, just like you do. He wants the government to run our lives from cradle to grave, just like you do. He wants to confiscate money from the working class people and redistribute it to those without, just like you do. Y'all might be brothers.

Just remind me in the next four years if grab um makes it, when government gets smaller. Also if Healthcare gets better.

No comedy here! Your either conservative or everyone else, because conservatives hate everone else.

Boy are your analytical skills out of whack. The Conservatives are not the party of hate. That would be you and your Liberal party, formerly know as the Democrat party.
