What is the impetus of this topic? Do you have a point of discussion?

I'll start. Do you think that a bunch of people disseminating false, fake, and biased information should achieve the moniker of a news organization, afforded all of the protections of a free press?

I agree we need a free press. The main steam media is not a free press. 

Anybody with socialist leanings can not operate a free press, for socialism to work the government must take rights away in order to do what they think is the better good.

Do you think we have a free press and does it service the citizens?  Many call fake news anything that they don't agree with. Our President does it often if he doesn't like the news report. Where do you go for unbiased news?

And you told me in the early 70's not to trust the media.  Don't you be quoting all that Thomas Erskine bs.   

Your question, where do you go for unbiased news?  That's the $64 question.  About 6 months ago I posted a link from a source usually reliable, but not this one maybe.  Somebody posted I should use a trusted source.  My question was similar, which ones can you trust?  Every major TV News has had fake news on, including a Fox.  Every news is biased. This afternoon I watched Fox - Trump is vindicated.  Then I watched CBS, Trump is in trouble.  Both covering the same story, but picking the parts that fit their thinking/agenda.  Honestly, I think unbiased news is gone, along with trustworthy news.  

So, as you'll learn, just get on the forum and you'll know everything just like we do lol.

You definitely don't get it from the mainstream media. 

We may not get it from anywhere but mainstream is so biased to the point of being ridiculous. I think they are relatively unbiased as long as it is not a political topic. Toss in politics and you get spin from one side or the other.

Yep, REBgp, I did say that back then, that is why I try to watch NBC, CBC and FOX, I also pick up Sky and Reuters off the computer sometimes BBC. I get news feeds for other countries also, just trying to know what is true today, When you try and put all of it together then you are really confused.
